Hotel is about 30/40 min walk into the city and a 10 min drive to designer centre to the south. There are regular buses going past the hotel into city (£2.00 single adult). Hotel is about 30/40 min walk into the city and a 10 min drive to designer centre to the south. There are regular buses going past the hotel into city (£2.00 single adult). Breakfast was included and very good. Staff very polite and helpful, room very clean. Only downside was the shower trickled, so this took ages to feel like you were washed. Heating through the night in room was too hot, so window had to be opened to help cool room down. Look forward to returning in future.

My partner and I had a two night stay here and on arrival hotel is very quaint, reception staff were pleasant and helpful. Room was basic, tidy, en suite needed a revamp, stairs leading to room felt as though they were about to collapse. Food, dinner on first night was so disappointing, couldn't eat it, no taste felt ingredients were cheap, breakfast wasn't much better. All in all hotel needs renovated and change of chef, won't be back.

The hotel location is ideal for a visit to York ad there is ample free parking and opposite a bus stop. However the room was not what I was promised on booking with no outlook. and there was a lot of load music from a tribute act down stairs which we were not informed about. “Not what we hoped.”

We booked the hotel for our 37th wedding anniversary, we paid a good price and were happy with the location. We booked the hotel for our 37th wedding anniversary, we paid a good price and were happy with the location. On arrival everything looked great a very traditional style Georgian hotel and we were checked in pretty quickly. Our room was on the ground floor at the back of the hotel, ideally placed for the bar/ restaurant and the rear car park. The room looks a little dated but it does tell you, you are staying in an old fashioned hotel at reception and we were only wanting somewhere clean to sleep as we were planning on being out and about, so again everything seemed OK. When it came to actual sleep, that's where the problems started. The mattress sank really badly when you laid on it which was bad enough but the noise from the marching band that appeared to be in the room above was horrendous. They were back and forth across the room the entire night, so we heard every creak of the floor boards as well as the heavy footsteps and the creak of the bed. Added to this was.the noise of snoring from the next room, plus the sounds of toilets flushing and cisterns filling back up. meant absolutely no sleep for the 2 nights we were there. The plus side of this hotel were the staff, each and every one of them was lovely,.so polite and helpful throughout and were a credit to the hotel. The breakfast is pretty decent and we had a meal in the restaurant on our last night and again that was lovely too. I really wanted to give a good review of.this hotel but at the end of the day, hotels are primarily for sleeping and after a "relaxing" celebratory 2 day trip, we have arrived home, absolutely exhausted. Sadly won't be staying in this hotel again which is a pity because we loved the look and location.
