“Wonderful hotel”

Stayed for a night. I had chosen room with breakfast. Room was quite big with double bed, sofa sitting area, with balcony (doors were locked though). Bath tub with with all the amenities, tea, coffee making facilities with complimentary water bottles. We had the dinner in the restaurant, great food indeed. Set breakfast with lot of choices. I ordered vegan sausage, unfortunately was undercooked. Otherwise a great stay and recommend this hotel. Only negative point is the traffic noise, there is a road next to hotel which is busy with traffic.

There is ample parking on site and guests need to check in their vehicle reg at reception or you will be fined. Check in was very quick and the lady on reception was very helpful. The reception area / foyer looks upmarket. The rooms are dated and basic but were spacious and clean with everything you needed. Both rooms had balconies however we were umable to use them as they were undergoing repairs. The bathrooms have shower gel, hand wash and body wash all provided. The water is extremely hot (there are warning signs) and of a could water pressure. We didn't use the spa facilities but they looked good. We were given the option to add extras/upgrades at a discounted price prior to arrival however we decided against it. We changed our mind about breakfast so unfortunately didn't benefit from the £10 offer so paid £14.95 on the day. The staff in the restaurant were again incredibly polite and efficient but the food and drink was poor. The juices were all very watery and not drinkable. The hot food selection was cheap (somewhat understandable with it being an unlimited buffet) and over cooked. I also found a hair in one of my eggs. The HP sauces were all on their last dregs and needed throwing away. The waiting staff were attentive good at replacing food which was nearly empty and removing used plates etc once finished. The breakfast really let the stay down and if we hadn't had it, I would have given it 5*

“Nice evening”

Hannah was great at supporting us to book something suitable for our event which was a celebration meal with colleagues We were very well looked after during the evening by all staff, particularly by Alim Thank you to the team for your attention

Spa/ gym - looked good (not used) BIG PROBLEM: 1 LIFT VERY POOR/UNRELIABLE. Therefore several flights of stairs … more

I imagine this place was once great, but unfortunately, while the staff were excellent and I loved the sustainability rewards at the bar, a lack of updating over the years has left this place feeling a little tired around the edges. The decor felt distinctly 90s (complete with 'non smoking room' labels on doors, 2000s tv and minimal plug sockets), the breakfast could use some menu modernising, the shower was clearly installed by a short man and the lift regularly broke. With a refit, I'm sure this place could be lovely again.
