A brilliant 1 night stay before our flight the next day. The swimming pool was tremendous and so were the changing rooms. Had a evening meal whicb was lovely and the breakfast next morning was also lovely. I would also want to mention all staff. Everyone we spoke to was polite and very helpful. Would definetely stay here again. Wonderful start to our holiday.

I do like a hotel with a good gym and pool facilities, and the facilities at the Waterside were outstanding. There's a large cardio room overlooking the pool, a Ladies Only area with cardio, resistance machines and free weights, and (apparently) a weights/resistance room though I never got as far as finding that! There is a poolside jacuzzi, and the thermal suite houses a sauna, multiple steam rooms (so there is always one that's hot and steamy?) and a jacuzzi pool with massage pressure shower-style jets so strong that 2 days later my shoulders still feel like I had a sports massage! Sadly the jacuzzi jets in that pool seem to be on a timer and they shut down before I got to experience them (other people in the bubbly area and I was waiting my turn...) and I was too impatient to sit and wait the several minutes for them to come back on so I gave up after a couple of minutes and moved on, lol. The gym is open 24 hours, so even though I only stayed one night I was able to visit twice, choosing to spend my morning time in the gym rather than having breakfast. The changing area / locker room was large and clean, and the wristbands which allow access to the changing area as well as the lockers are very convenient. All the staff I encountered were welcoming, friendly and helpful. The first impression they created on arriving set the level for the whole stay. The hotel area seems to have been recently decorated, and the bathroom fittings in particular, with 2 shower options including a large 'rainfall' shower fitting felt very luxurious. Kettle with tea and coffee (and biscuits ;) ) Iron, hairdryer.... all the things one would expect.... Ample parking, bar, coffee shop. My biggest disappointment is that, when I first made a reservation here I booked the wrong dates, and by the time I realised there was no longer availability for the dates I wanted, so when I visited the area 2 weeks ago I had to stay somewhere else, so I only got to stay at this hotel once instead of twice!

Just back from a weekend stay to attend a family wedding in nearby Stockport. The hotel staff are amazing. Nothing too much trouble, always polite and friendly. Special shout out to the breakfast team who looked after us (and the Bride and Groom) so well the morning after the wedding, making sure we had everything we need. Totally relaxed experience. We booked two small doubles. And Boy were they small, particularly when travelling with hung suits, dresses and other wedding paraphernalia, but we managed. Size aside the rooms were clean and tidy with extra towels provided freely when we asked. A shelf in the shower would have been helpful for shower gel, but that's a minor point! We used the pool, jacuzzi, steam room and hydropool which were open til 10. All clean and very relaxing. Large changing rooms with free locker rooms. The lady who diligently kept everything clean was cheerful and friendly. We also ate in the restaurant. Lovely meals and good value. Drinks were also reasonably priced. And again, brilliant staff. Happy to bring drinks over with a friendly chat and smile and happy to leave us relaxing post closing time, with the night porter available if we needed anything. There was a small error on our invoice but this was resolved super quickly, without fuss, by Molly. Lovely hotel, great staff. Would definately stay again if visiting Manchester/Stockport.

“Most uncomfortable bed”
