My boyfriend and I had a wonderful stay at the Cottons over the bank holiday weekend. We were checked in swiftly and given our keys. Could have benefitted from information on the Spa and also confirmation of what time our table bookings were (we’d forgotten the latter!) Room was lovely, spacious and clean. Bed was massive and so comfy and good to have a choice of pillows. We also liked the complimentary slippers and fluffy robe! We liked the idea of fresh milk from the machine as opposed to UHT milk. Same with the water. We dined in the restaurant and the food was a little underwhelming. The staff were lovely, all friendly and chatty but the food was a bit of a let down. I had the burger, it was £20 and I was really quite sad that it wasn’t homemade, it was processed. I love a good burger but this was reminiscent of something you’d get off a burger van. The chips were also disappointing too. Breakfast the following morning however, was really nice, plenty of choice and again the staff were a credit to the hotel. We were lucky to have excellent weather so made full use of the spa facilities, it was busy but we managed to use the hot tub and have a sit out with some Prosecco, just bliss! We also used the gym which was excellent, miles better than the gym I pay monthly for at home! We got an Uber into Knutsford (£6) which had a bustling night life, loads of bars and restaurants. You can walk but we’d had a few drinks so decided against it! All in all, we had a fantastic stay, we’d highly recommend the hotel (we already have!) and are already planning on returning.

“Very relaxing stay”

Great stay, lovely modern room on the end of the 3rd floor by the car park. All staff were very polite, helpful and well trained. Praise for Phoebe on reception who was knowledgeable and friendly. Sue and her housekeeping team do an excellent job. We took advantage of the £85 room only offer, purchasing two mains for dinner in the restaurant. Food was fantastic, so credit to the chef who we understand used to work for the Queen! Outdoor large jacuzzi available in the spa which was nice to relax in. Thank you for a very enjoyable stay.

“Okay, but nothing special”

Somewhat disappointing. £138 for a double B&B in a dated and shabby room with poor lighting including one out of the two bathroom lights being fused. The bathroom needs updating - taps not working properly and a toilet that barely flushes due to a problem with the cistern behind the wall. Attempted 5 phone calls to the Reception desk but no one answered so had to physically go down to speak to someone in the end. The reason for not answering the phone “I’m busy”. No-one else was around. A function room was in use by a private group when we arrived at 5pm and when we retired to our room at 9:55pm we noticed that the dirty plates and glasses were still on the tables and the room had not been tidied up. Non-attentive restaurant staff, who can barely hold a conversation and appear to have had next to no hospitality training or experience. Probably not their fault, everyone from the reception, bar and restaurant staff are young and there seemed to be no management or supervisors on the premises to assist or guide them. On the upside, the bedding was clean and the shower worked fine with plenty of hot water. The White Company products provided for use. Lots of parking onsite. Overall a shame as it has the potential to be a very nice place.
