In a world where everything feels broken some things are still perfect. We had a wonderful stay at Cromlix, a Victorian house hotel set in the beautiful Scottish countryside. The house retains many of the original features and has been decorated and furnished to a high standard. Rooms are very comfortable and well appointed, guests are well provided for. Dinner in the evening was excellent, the menu offered something for everyone. Breakfast in the morning was served from 7.30am till 10.30am, again all preferences and tastes are catered for. A great place to get away from it all and enjoy the good things in life.

Had a lovely afternoon tea to celebrate my son’s graduation. Food was delicious, especially the cakes, all washed down with 2 pots of refreshing tea. Waitress provided an overview of the food on presentation. Friendly and attentive staff. A special plate of congratulations was presented to my son which was a lovey gesture and very much appreciated. Beautiful decor and surroundings with a relaxing atmosphere. Thank you Cromlix.

“Review on dining only”

My wife and I dined here recently and enjoyed the excellent service from the Hotel staff, which was very professional. The food was also very good, apart from the lamb shank main course, which we thought was pretty tough to eat. We did however enjoy our visit.

Mostly VERY enjoyable, better building than photos show with excellent large garden/grounds with seats and games (surprise, a good tennis court, snooker room, and chapel, the organ should be restored, and an out of sight car park). Arrival was PERFECT, staff came out to welcome us/carry bags to the room, there is no lift. Charming check in (and check out) with ready poured sparkling wine! The building is perfectly designed (except there is no Grand/main staircase) and newly expensively decorated. We were in the last room available, small ish "Bramble" but it is very attractive. Unfortunately not perfect. One soft chair between 2, small wardrobe hanging space, but huge space given to safe, fridge and tea coffee kit which included snack treats and fresh fruit. The reverse use of the wardrobe space would have been better. Our mattress was quite firm, pillows expensively huge but too firm, duvet far to warm for the summer.We slept badly the first night. We had the Duvet removed for a top sheet but they supplied no extra blanket other than the decor one. The first evening our "Turn Down" was complete perfection, the second it was not. The Bar space is gorgeous but staff (mostly charming students earning money before Uni are not highly skilled either in the bar (Zoe the manager excepted) or restaurant (called the Glass House). The restaurant is very attractive but shares the space with an open kitchen. Some tables and chairs are too high/too low. Staff often herd guests together rather than spread them. The shame is the lack of enough senior/experienced staff and in two days we never saw the Hotel Manager. The cooking mixed, Breakfast excellent, fruits, honey comb, Bloody Mary mixing station !! and lots good things. Dinner not so good, the Menu dull and expensive. The tasting menu items the same as the A la Carte. I ate the same two nights running! Apart from these points it is a comfortable, luxurious, restful, fine hotel.
