I felt like it was a five star experience. The reception staff and staff throughout the hotel were superb and incredibly friendly and polite. I had a fantastic back massage treatment and then a lovely meal at the fine dining restaurant. The room was immaculate and very quiet. I loved how dog friendly this hotel was. The grounds are fantastic and well maintained.

“Best experience at hotel for long time.”

We have just enjoyed the best stay here. The hotel, staff & ambience were exceptional. Wonderful evening meal & breakfast - would definitely like a return visit. Staff all super friendly & well informed. Room was cosy & warm with the plushest carpet ever!

First impressions of the hotel were very favourable. Friendly, helpful staff, cosy lounge, well appointed comfortable room (but needs more lighting). I imagine this will be a superb location in summer as some delightful outside seating areas. Excellent breakfasts. Unfortunately we picked the wrong two nights to visit. The first night had a corporate event in progress and it was quite clear that all effort in the kitchen was directed there. We waited a long time to complete our meals. From the very limited but pricey menu my wife enjoyed terrine then fish. I struggled to find something appealing for main course and, in desperation, settled for a venison burger. I could not eat it, the flavours were indescribably bad. Upon leaving, the staff member, knowing the long wait we had had said she was arranging a discount. Well yes but one dines out for a pleasant evening. Worse to come. Upon trying next morning to book into the restaurant for the next night, there being no other choice in this alleged 4 star hotel, I was informed it was fully booked. Now, this hotel is quite remote and eating elsewhere with a drink would require driving some way, so not an option. No alternatives such as a meal in our room were on offer. It is quite clear that the restaurant does not have sufficient capacity for the potential number of guests. Our dinner in this 4 star hotel consisted of a quiche and a bottle of wine from M&S. However I was not too miffed as another night like the first in the restaurant would have been an expensive waste. The restaurant is the weak link in this otherwise good hotel. The Goodwood Hotel is part of a large enterprise and it is a shame that this essential feature of s quality hotel has such shortcomings.

We stayed on a dinner, bed & breakfast deal, hotel is lovely, room clean and bed comfy. Couple of gripes tho, firstly there were loads of kids in the pool area, as this is the start of half term, it could be expected, and had I bought my kids it would have been fab as there were balls, hoops and all sorts in the pool for them, didn't make it much of a relaxing time for adults tho. I didn't mind too much, however it did annoy me when kids were getting in the adults only hot tub and staff weren't asking them to get out, also towels need to be moved off the loungers round the pool so people can use them. Breakfast service was a bit slow, and again seeing kids putting their fingers in the fruit put me off slightly, hardly the hotels fault tho. I wouldn't come here again for an adults spa break, however if I wanted a family break in a beautiful clean hotel with the kids then this is the place to visit.
