Beautiful and historic hotel located opposite the station. The decor has been stylishly upgraded without losing its original charm. All the staff here were friendly and helpful, this so makes a difference! Special note to the lovely Hannah on reception, who went over an above and told us about the history of the building, Queenie (the hotel cat!), the ghost stories and more… The restaurant and food was top notch. We had a most fabulous time! Thank you!

“Great weekend in Chester”

We stayed here for 2 nights . Couldn't fault a thing. Booked the 2 night getaway deal which included 3 course meal on the first night and breakfast on both mornings plus a bottle of wine. We also had a free room upgrade to a superior king. It was fantastic value for £214. The room was spotless and the staff where so friendly and Couldn't do enough for us. We will definitely be returning

We stayed for one night,on a Thursday,the room was nice, in the original part of hotel, good shower and comfy bed, and reasonably priced. The only negative was you could hear noise from other rooms, I was Awome. At 2:30am by people talking and the TV could be heard quite loud when we first entered the room in the afternoon, we were in room 116 which was above the bar and opposite lifts, wether this was the reason I’m not sure. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay.

Booked a 2 night stay via a personal travel agent. From the off we could never get an answer from the hotel when advised to book a room for dinner, rang and left messages several times and emailed, all to no avail, eventually rang customer services at Great Western and they sorted it for us. Mixed views, we expected to be given the smallest room possible, and weren’t disappointed! No mirror in the room at all for drying hair, the one over the sink in bathroom was set so far back, makeup was difficult to apply. Room door was ancient, split at the bottom and top so light shone in all night. Old sash window, managed to open a few inches, no heating was working, but not an issue for us, maybe for other folks, it would have been nice for bathroom towel heated rail to be working, as we’d opted for a free drink, no room service for the 48 hours, and towels couldn’t get dry. The second afternoon, the electric failed in anything that could be plugged in, kettle, chargers TV etc wouldn’t work, apparently this was in a few rooms. Tried number of times to get them to answer the phone, no success again, had to go to reception, I asked why they NEVER answer the phone, no-one replied.. But staff responded quickly and put us in a replacement room. Much nicer and bigger, the shower room was bigger than previous bedroom itself. Lots of late night noise from revellers. Pillows in both rooms were dire, lumpy and no support or of any use. Dinner was fab, buffet breakfast was the best choices I’ve ever had, amazing value for money. Every member of staff was kind, helpful and attentive. Location is opposite the railway station, the area isn’t nice, lots of the usual barbers/vape shops, loads of takeaways etc on the walk up into town. We didn’t feel particularly safe walking back early evening in the dark via the subways, where number of blokes sat around begging and smoking weed. I do some work with the homeless, and these guys were a different breed. We eventually found a different route back to hotel, so ask advice from staff if you#'re not sure! £30 to park for 2 nights stay. Hotel has had a fab makeover, hopefully the rooms will be next. Overall at the price we paid £250 for 2 nights B&B, a bottle of house wine in room, and a 3 course dinner, VFM was exceptional! We would stay again in spite of communication issues and location if this offer arose once more. Chester itself is fab
