Excellent location. 10 minute stroll into the city, 5 minutes to the river & The Groves. Plenty of choice for shopping, dining out, drinking and walks. Excellent location. 10 minute stroll into the city, 5 minutes to the river & The Groves. Plenty of choice for shopping, dining out, drinking and walks. Bathroom was spacious, plenty towels and toiletries. Bed wasn't all the comfortable, too soft and too low. When sat on the bed felt as though you were sat on the floor. Pillows lumpy - for us it didn't make a good night's sleep. Full English breakfast which was included was yummy & plentiful. Added bonus was the secure underground car park at an additional cost. Would definitely stay here again due to the location.

We arrived by car and found the entrance to the underground car park. There was no barrier to prevent entry so parking was easy. Plenty of room. We caught the lift up to Reception. We arrived by car and found the entrance to the underground car park. There was no barrier to prevent entry so parking was easy. Plenty of room. We caught the lift up to Reception. We checked in and paid the £10 parking fee which gave us parking only up to midday the following day. We went up to our room on the third floor. It overlooked the castle and whilst not particularly large was fine. The bed was comfy. Instead of sockets near the bed there were USB sockets under the bedside lights. No fridge but various items for sale at a cost. A Tunnocks teacake was £1! Good coffee as well as a selection of teas but strangely only one biscuit for a double room. Nice bathroom. Good night's sleep. We didn't eat or drink at the hotel. Good location but all in all it lacked a Wow factor.

This hotel is adjacent to an office building that looks just like it, and overlooks the race track. Although the location is fine because of its proximity to the City Wall Walk (within a minute's trek across a street--something of which the front desk had no knowledge and instead advised that I walk on a thoroughfare into the city centre and look around for ways to get onto the Wall Walk) it feels like a chain hotel catering to business people. If you're a tourist wanting to steep yourself in Chester's history and its historical purpose, however, this ABode is not a great choice. It's a shock to go from it into town, where Tudor-style buildings abound and the Chester Cathedral dominates the landscape.
