“Last minute booking and very pleasant stay”

we arrived mid evening and were received a warm welcome from Chris, the owner. He gave us a very detailed explanation of the Guest house and the surrounding area. Room was clean and spacious. Breakfast was plentiful and staff very friendly. Highly recommend.

Checked in as a Solo traveller at 7 pm on a Sunday evening 26/05/24. Was welcomed and everything. Explained . Room was spotlessly clean, quite blingy !Bed was comfortable! I usually have a cooked breakfast, but continental breakfast served ? Must say that breakfast was excellent quality and selection ! Overall Breakfast excellent!! I would certainly recommend this Hotel and will return when next in the area !

“Flatters to deceive”

Check in was not the most welcoming I’ve experienced. I thought I had paid the full amount to Booking.com and articulated my surprise when asked to pay the balance (50%). Check in was not the most welcoming I’ve experienced. I thought I had paid the full amount to Booking.com and articulated my surprise when asked to pay the balance (50%). The gentleman (the owner I believe) rather rudely lectured me on how he has been deal with bookings like this for 30 years and he knew how it worked. I backed down and paid- and on checking my bank, he was correct- only a 50% deposit had been taken before my arrival. He might have explained things a little more respectfully to a guest who had just arrived. When I was leaving to go out to dinner, the same chap was talking to another gentleman and was prepared to blank me completely as I walked past him- I wished both men a nice evening and forced him to speak to me. Credit where it’s due, the room was spotless, the bathroom well fitted out and the bed comfortable. What more could one wish for at a bed and breakfast (which effectively this is and cannot be described as a boutique hotel)…… well a good breakfast I would say! As far as continental breakfast offerings go- it was ok. A choice of juice, frozen pastries straight out the oven, selection of cereals, and several fruit options. The cheap butter portion packs and marmalade were disappointing and certainly not befitting the hotel’s (B&B) description. Decaf coffee offering was a jar of granule coffee- and the toast was supermarket quality sliced. I think when no cooked breakfast is available it would be prudent to state on booking sites that the breakfast is continental only. I guess the proof is in the question- “would you return?”….. I’m afraid I wouldn’t based on the arrival and the lack of a cooked breakfast.
