I don’t normally do reviews however went last night after a long drive for a meal with my Husband I have to say the meal it’s self was fabulous better than expected and front of house was second to none very friendly service staff all seemed happy the pub looked really festive no sticky tables with such a young front of house we were very impressed indeed we have booked in for Christmas dinner well done Green King 5 stars well deserved

“Lovely return visit.”

Return visit to this hotel in an excellent sea front location near to shops and restaurants in Southbourne. Staff are excellent, friendly and helpful. Bar restaurant is cosy and informal. Rooms and beds are comfortable. Limited car parking although street parking nearby.

For the setting alone a 4 is worth it. A comfortable room. Very high bed but comfy . Lovely sea view hampered by the fog, but it is December. Very clean room, dated. For the setting alone a 4 is worth it. A comfortable room. Very high bed but comfy . Lovely sea view hampered by the fog, but it is December. Very clean room, dated. Our only gripe was there was no shower. A shower head but no way of using it. We had to have a bath which my partner found very difficult . Why have a shower you can’t use?? Breakfast was good and the staff very nice. We were in room 10.

“Comfortable, spacious accommodation with great views & a reasonably priced family-friendly pub.”

My daughter & I checked in at the Commodore pub to spend a night in a twin bedded room in the hotel. The staff were friendly, polite & helpful even though it was still full of people of all ages who were finishing their early Christmas lunches. We had a drink & my daughter ordered a chicken light bite as a late lunch. I didn't eat but tasted her chicken with a barbeque sauce served with chips. The prices of drinks were surprisingly reasonable The light bites on the menu were acceptable but definitely could have offered more choices, especially to include healthy seeded or sourdough options. Parking was not available close to the hotel on a Saturday because of all the diners for Christmas lunch. Hotel rooms were spacious, clean & while simply furnished, had TV, a tray with kettle, mugs, tea, coffee & biscuits. We couldn't get the heater to work but pleased to have a shower with hot water. We enjoyed a good night's sleep & preferred having an airy room. A few higher star-rated hotels in Bournemouth had sealed windows that caused us to be uncomfortably hot & unable to get a decent night's sleep. The hotel/pub location is fantastic with sea views. We enjoyed walking to the beach & along Boscombe Overcliff Drive where I took a few pictures of a glorious sunset. In the evening, we walked across to Spyglass & Kettle, also by Greene King, where they had a Diva tribute act. On Sunday morning, we discovered a route through a lovely woodland park called Fisherman's Walk to Southbourne village. Several coffee shops, small cafe's & a few charity shops were open. Recommended Budget hotel.
