Harington's Hotel

“Fabulous hotel”

Stayed overnight to visit the Bath Christmas market. This hotel was in the perfect setting for all of Bath. Lovely quirky place and great full English breakfast. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. Had a lovely stay and would highly recommend.

We stayed here for one night. We booked direct and got breakfast included. And, dogs are allowed, so our dog came with us! Heather who took our booking over the phone was at the hotel when we arrived and when we left. She was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was good and the hotel is really well located in the centre Bath. Our room was a standard double on the top floor. The room was pretty basic and had a sloping ceiling (fine for us but something to be aware of). But, it was good for a night.

“Good bed but tired room”

We really looked forward to our return visit to Harington’s. There was a warm welcome for all guests from the staff on reception. It must be said that although our bed was a little squeaky it was so comfortable and the bed linen was lovely. There was no second pillow available just a large scatter cushion each which was unsuitable to sleep on. Sadly, the room was a little tired with scuff marks on the wall especially near the door and corner edge of the bathroom which protruded into the bedroom was rather chipped. The bottom half of the wooden shutters weren’t functioning properly although we did eventually manage to close them well enough for privacy - our room faced the Raven Arms. The en-suite lacked a door handle to pull it shut from the inside - it had a thumb-turn lock but as the door was slightly warped it was difficult to get a good enough grip to shut it properly. The grout in the shower had a considerable amount of black mould and the design of the hand basin/tap/shelf made it difficult to wash one’s face or clean one’s teeth with ease. There was a separate, private, toilet on the floor above but the wooden toilet seat was badly split. We didn’t bring these issues to the attention of the hotel as we were staying for one night only and didn’t know whether it was worth the bother to do so. Breakfast was pleasant although it felt under staffed as it was about 10 minutes before we were acknowledged by the only member of waiting staff we saw until more turned up later. Another guest waited longer and even then we had to tell the staff member than the guest was at a table behind her. All that said, we probably would go back again especially as it is such a good location but we’d probably check out other available hotels first. It’s a shame there’s no longer designated parking for non-EV cars in the Charlotte Street car park as this facility is very useful, especially at Christmas Market time.
