The Marischal Appartments are at the end of Union Street, a few minutes walk from Union Street and the harbour. There is easy access to good pubs, a BrewDog, restaurants and shopping, and only a twelve minute walk (uphill, mind) from the train station. We were in a flat on the second floor, so nice and quiet - but there's no lift (if stairs are a concern, request ground floor). The flat itself was spacious and clean; nothing fancy, but it covered our basic needs and there was plenty of hot water and a well-equipped kitchenette for breakfast. The bed was a bit past its sell-by date, but not the worst surface I've ever slept on (that was a train platform). Based on the location, facilities and cost it was strong value in a vibrant part of a very cool city.

Very good location, 10 minutes from the bus station and just off Union Street, with a decent pub a few doors up the street! We felt both the close and the apartment were easily accessed but secure. The entrance, hallway, stairs and apartment were all very clean. We were in apartment E, the living area was a good size and contained everything you would need, and I appreciated the fresh milk supplied. The bed was a small double and the mattress was AWFUL. The toilet seat was loose and slide sideways when sat upon! Good value for money and would stay again if I could be sure of a better quality mattress.

“Clean and convenient - great for a short stay”

Three of us stayed in a one bed standard apartment for two nights in April. Despite having a reservation, we received neither a confirmation email or instructions about how to access the apartment. The email address to the owners bounced too (but I was reassured to see plenty of recent reviews). Luckily the owner/manager answered the phone promptly when we arrived and told us how to access apartment C on the first floor. The apartment was really warm when we arrived, but we were drenched so if felt very welcoming. The radiator thermostats didn't appear to work but we could switch the heating off at the boiler in the bedroom (there is a CO alarm next to the boiler). The bed was a small double (probably 4ft 6in wide). The promised "breakfast hamper" for the three of us comprised a pint of milk and 5 random mini boxes of cereal (and a few teabags and filter coffee in the cupboard). There was a washing machine (not a washer-dryer), but no dishwasher. We didn't cook anything, so can't comment on the kitchen kit. The shower was electric (on/off switch outside the bathroom) and did the job. We parked in the NCP carpark. Walk-up price was £14.95 or £12.95 if booked on the app or £9 if you have the apartments code. You need to sort this out before the ticket barrier. We didn't really have any issues with street noise (though maybe the weather deterred revellers). The apartment worked well for us, being close to the airport bus (to return after dropping the rental car) and a short walk from the train station. We found a convenience store on Union St to hold our bags (using Radical Storage). Being so close to the port made it easy not to get lost.

This apartment did not live up to our expectations which were based on the reviews. It was clean enough but felt shabby and rundown with scuffed walls, damaged fridge, door under sink falling off and toilet roll holder not secure. The kitchen was poorly equipped with only 3 place settings of cheap crockery and cutlery. Other than providing check in details there was no communication from the owners/managers during our stay or since. There were no special touches or anything to make this apartment feel homely or comfortable.
