We recently stayed at the Kempinski Mall of the Emirates for the first time, choosing it as a second base for part of our Dubai holiday, especially for its direct access to the Mall of the Emirates and Ski Dubai. Overall, our experience was positive, with a few areas that could be improved to align better with the 5-star standard. Booking our stay was straightforward, even though it wasn’t a direct booking with the hotel. Prior to our arrival, we exchanged several emails with the hotel, receiving warm and reassuring responses. The hotel took note of our special requests, which was evident upon arrival, as our bathroom was beautifully decorated with rose petals to celebrate a special occasion. We stayed in a Grand Deluxe Room, which was effectively a one-bedroom suite with a lounge area, kitchenette, and dining space. The room itself was exceptional in terms of comfort and quality. The bed was oversized and incredibly comfortable, with high-quality furnishings throughout. Our son slept soundly on the sofa bed, which, despite its thinner mattress, proved comfortable for him. The room exuded a true 5-star feel with luxurious touches, spaciousness, and cleanliness. It featured two televisions, ample storage, effective air conditioning with individual controls, and a beautifully appointed bathroom with luxury-branded toiletries. However, one downside was the noticeable smell of cigarette smoke upon entering the room, which detracted from the otherwise high standards. We opted for a Bed and Breakfast package given the hotel’s convenient connection to the mall’s vast dining options. Breakfast in the main restaurant was impressive, with a wide-ranging buffet complemented by cooked-to-order options. The quality and variety left nothing to be desired. The hotel’s attention to detail was evident, as they even provided an in-room breakfast basket on our early departure day, which was much appreciated. While we didn’t have the opportunity to dine at the hotel’s restaurants for dinner, we were tempted by their high-quality offerings and would certainly consider it for a longer stay. The dining experience overall reflected Kempinski’s reputation for excellence. The hotel’s location, directly attached to the Mall of the Emirates, was a significant highlight. With countless shops, a variety of dining options, and entertainment like Ski Dubai, bowling, and a cinema, it’s an ideal choice for those looking to stay in the heart of Dubai’s activity. The proximity to Ski Dubai was a primary reason for choosing this hotel, and it did not disappoint. The outdoor pool area, while functional, is relatively small and shaded for much of the day due to the building’s height. This resulted in colder pool temperatures, which may have deterred some guests from enjoying a swim. The pool area is better suited for those seeking a quiet retreat rather than a family-friendly resort atmosphere. Service throughout our stay was strong, with courteous and attentive staff. The hotel exuded a classic 5-star vibe, and it’s clear that Kempinski lives up to its legacy as one of the world’s oldest luxury hotel brands. However, the experience was marred slightly by the noise levels in the lobby and reception areas during the afternoons, which were almost deafening due to construction or maintenance work in the adjacent mall. This noise persisted daily from late morning until the evening, impacting the otherwise serene ambiance of the hotel. We were surprised that guests were not pre-warned about this disturbance, which would have been appreciated. Overall, we were impressed by the Kempinski Mall of the Emirates. The service, room quality, and unbeatable location connected to the mall and metro make it an excellent choice for families looking for a unique stay in Dubai. While the hotel doesn’t offer a resort-style pool area, its direct access to the mall’s entertainment options more than compensates. If the hotel had been more transparent about the potential noise disturbances, it would have aligned better with the high expectations we had for a 5-star experience. Despite these issues, we would still recommend this hotel to families or travelers seeking a different kind of stay in the heart of Dubai. The convenience, comfort, and quality make it a compelling option—just be prepared for the possibility of some noise during the day.
