I caught a very early flight in from Cape Town and arrived at The Pera Tulip Hotel, Taksim  around 6:00 a.m.. I was exhausted but walk around for a few hours. The front desk got very busy by 8:00a.m. but hotel management got me into a room before noon which was fantastic. I was wiped-out.  Everything was geat, super clean and a cool air conditioner. With my career in real estate development I thought it helpful to management to mention a few issues. 3 maintenance men were there within minutes to remedy a leaky shower, & TV in Turkish, just little stuff. The next morning I enjoyed the very full, busy breakfast buffet. I was amused and laughing with another man across the way as we watched some tourist filling canisters with takeaway food that could feed an army. It's a breakfast buffet ,not a means of feeding a family for the rest of the week! It was wrong and greedy but we had a laugh. Later I found out the man was Banis the general manager. He was writing me on WhatsApp with his photo checking that my stay was comfortable and did I need anything. Very professional. My internal clock was off so I was up at odd hours and would sit outside a the cute little tables and watch the interesting folks passed by. A very good looking crowd BTW. Sometimes the staff would sit down with me and we would drink and eat nuts. They were always very respectful and accommodating. I believe the ownership group has three hotels on the block. In the wee hours maintenance would hose down all the sidewalks for a perfectly clean path, so very organized and professional.  I got the deep massage next door at the health spa. Having massages all over the world for many years I can rate the female masseuse as excellent, as good as Thailand or Indonesia. I stayed a week at the Tulip. I left yesterday to explore  another neighborhood near the Blue mosque, similar pricing but not nearly as nicely equipped accommodations at the Pers Tulip. I WhatsApped management about returning. I believe it was to Baris and Gaheim, The general manager. They responded ASAP and  could work with me on a better long-term rate when I come back. Ros at the front desk came over immediately while I was having my coffee to check on m, my baggage and transport service. They suggested it would be a pleasure if I returned. How fantastic. Since I've been world traveling for a few years knowing a professional hotel can still be flexible in pricing for a long-term resident helps the budget a great deal.
