This is our second stay at this Hotel. It's location is comfortably distant from the more touristy area of the Golden Triangle but easily accessible to the Opium Museum and boats across to Laos. Sadly on our last visit, Laos had closed its borders due to Covid-19. The Serene has seen better days, just needs some TLC but the rooms are more than adequate, beds comfortable, shower adequate and if you don't have a view of the Maekong River, you can ask at the very helpful Reception. The breakfast was a choice of Asian and Western food, nothing special but freshly cooked and more than adequate. Would we stay there again? Yes, based on previous visits, we don't intend reinventing the wheel.

“Good Lunch ”

Stopped here today for lunch in a group Lovely view Food was very good Staff ok (watch for correct charges for drinks) Toilets clean Parking and close to the opium museum and the Golden Triangle Don’t know what else to say

“Close to Golden Triangle”

Just the one night here and it was enough. Nothing really wrong with the hotel but it was all a bit basic compared to what I expected based on the earlier part of my trip. Room was functional but not luxury. Breakfast selection was only average.

“Nothing special”

The bed was comfortable and the hotel location was quiet with good view. The minus point is that, the sink for tooth brushing and face washing was too small. and that made the floor wet most of the time. Breakfast was with few choices and very disattractive arrangement/decoration.

“Quiet hotel in Chiang Saen”

We stayed here just one night during our recent trip in northern Thailand. The hotel was somewhat worn but nice and clean. Our room had a balcony overlooking the river - but no furniture, so you couldn’t really make use of it. We had a very nice dinner at the hotel restaurant, and breakfast was ok.… more

We stayed here just one night during our recent trip in northern Thailand. The hotel was somewhat worn but nice and clean. Our room had a balcony overlooking the river - but no furniture, so you couldn’t really make use of it. We had a very nice dinner at the hotel restaurant, and breakfast was ok. We were surprised, however, how little English the staff understood/spoke, but it didn’t change our overall impression of a warm, welcoming approach which we enjoyed. We we sort of ‘forced’ to go to bed early, because it got chilly and there was nowhere else to go behind closed doors.
