“Lovely place”

Booked for 3 nights & stayed for 6. Great price for a peaceful stay. Grounds are so well kept & the rooms are spacious & clean. It has really nice pool area with mountain views. It's location is a bit quiet & you need to walk at least 20 mins either left or right for somewhere to eat of an evening.… more

Booked for 3 nights & stayed for 6. Great price for a peaceful stay. Grounds are so well kept & the rooms are spacious & clean. It has really nice pool area with mountain views. It's location is a bit quiet & you need to walk at least 20 mins either left or right for somewhere to eat of an evening. You can use the pickup trucks to go either way very cheaply to a bit more life. Most people rent scooters as we did to see rest of the island. I would return if on Koh Chang again.

“A very good hotel at and excellent price”

It was low season so I was able to get 3 nights accommodation for under 2000thb (about £40). My room was very comfortable with a huge bed, lots of towels and good balcony. The internet was not terribly good and my air conditioning was just not as cold as I would have liked. The swimming pool has zero shelter from the sun so getting in the pool is like jumping in a warm bath. Despite these things, I would definitely stay again.

“Fantastic value for money”

Incredible value for money if you don't mind not being on the beachfront. The onsite pool is plenty big enough and lots of loungers too. We travelled with our 16 month old and the cot provided was the best cot we've ever had in a hotel - basically a full sized cot like she has at home. The rooms are big, if a little basic, and the terrace out the back is spacious with a couple of chairs and table to spend an evening. It's in a good location, walking distance (or a 50 baht songthaew) to the nearest 'strip' of restaurants and shops, and a couple of elephants out the front that you can feed for 50 baht. The pool itself has a sloped entrance and whilst the majority of the pool is tiled, the entrance bit is a sort of gritty / pebble-dashed surface - i cut my feet a couple of times and my daughter had to wear crocs in the pool. Overall, a really lovely stay, but don't expect luxury (not sure you would at the price)

Service sadly lacking 😢 Having travelled to koh Chang back in April this year, we were so excited to stay in the old ‘Ramayana’ which is now the ‘Annika’this time, after hearing rave reviews from my parents who visited 12 years ago. I’m so sad! And after spending a week with my parents at the hotel, unfortunately, they were very disappinted too. First off: THE ROOM… We booked a Thai house (no1) which only accommodates 4 people. My youngest daughter stayed with my parents in their room for an additional charge for breakfast of 175 baht per night. We thought this was fair! However… it didn’t include any room towels/ extra bed/ bedding/ pool towels. Worth keeping in mind. The room itself is very Thai style, gorgeous decor, two big king size bedrooms, nice furnishing, fridge in both rooms, wardrobes, tv etc. the main entrance leads onto the two rooms then further to a seating area in polished concrete with 2 toilets and showers. Ideal if you like to have a poo while everyone sips a drink and listens 🥴🤣 … Seriously tho: we liked the room, it’s just a bit weird! Beds super comfy! It leaks a bit when it rains, only in communal area tho. Air con worked perfectly. Tv worked perfectly, mainly Thai Channels as you’d expect. The big DOWNSIDE: no outside space to sit with a wee sangsom at the end of the night. There’s literally a bench undercover at the front. We enjoy a drink on the balcony usually, in the sun, with a good book. This was a disappointment. The cleaning service isn’t up to scratch, glasses left dirty in the room, room service plates outside guest bedrooms for ages. Please don’t use the flip flops provided in the room. My daughter burst one pair and we were charged 250 baht 😳 I could’ve replaced for 50 baht down the street 🤣 I’ve also never bn charged for ice, in this hotel you’re charged 20baht for a bucket of ice. Silly things but I’ve never experienced this in similar starred hotels in Thailand (and I’ve visited for over 20 years.) POOL TOWELS: so, you’re given a bath towel size towel per person for the pool. These aren’t huge, and the sunbeds (being dark coloured) are bloody scalding with the sun 🤣 …if the Thai sun doesn’t burn you, the sunbed will! We found the replacement of the towels was not to usual Thai standard. We had 4 pool towels for the room, which we took back each night and had to find a housekeeper each morning to replace. There’s no dump bin which in Thailand is the norm in our experience. Then u just grab a few more dry ones. Also my young daughter didn’t get a towel at all. POOL & GROUNDS: gorgeous! Beautiful pool area (I’d question if there are sufficient sunbeds in high season, there were a max of about 20 and the resort is quite big). The pool bar is such a shame. They could make soooo much money out of this, but it was NEVER manned. They have direct dial phone to reception for drinks/ food (which is lovely! We recommend the club sandwich 🥰) but I honestly think if the pool bar was manned and stocked it would be so busy! Another negative was when food was ordered, the plates were never taken away until well after we’d left the pool. We actually moved a bottle of shower gel from sunbed to sunbed, then to the pool bar and over 4 days, it was never disposed of 🤦🏻‍♀️ the service was just sad. FREE SHUTTLE TO THE BEACH: Pirate beach is cute. They do 3 runs a day from the hotel and we really enjoyed the beach. They sell beers/ soft drinks from a reception down there and have sunbeds which are comfy! Beach is safe and lovely warm water. The only thing was we were ready to leave for 2.30 return to the hotel and the songtow wasn’t there. We waiting a good 20 minutes for pickup in wet beach clothes. Not ideal with moaning kids 🤣 AROUND THE HOTEL: Lovely restaurants, walking distance 5 minutes towards Khlong prao, cheap and delicious. Elephants to feed if it floats your boat. Not for me I’m afraid, they should be roaming free imo 😌 Good laundry service etc, 40baht per kilo, turn right out the resort, 2 minutes down the road. The waterfall is worth a visit, esp early in the day. We had it to ourselves. 200 baht adults, 100 child. Be prepared for a bit of a hike but it’s so worth it! Towards the estuary, plu tally restaurant is awesome! Lovely seafood and Thai dishes. STAFF/ BREAKFAST: No currency exchange. Walk into the centre for this. Better to exchange at the mainland, the rate on the island isn’t great. Staff are lovely, I honestly think the management lets this beautiful resort down. Brekkie is fine. Coffee, omelettes. Fruit, toast, couple of Thai dishes. Ideal to start your day. Prices of food also good. Expect 100-150 baht for Thai dishes, 180 for club sandwich & chips, 50 for 3 scoops ice cream. Reasonable! Cocktails 150baht, 120 beers large bottle, 30 cans of soft drink. In summary, such a gorgeous hotel, I think the management are letting it go. Maybe better in high season. The resort itself is gorgeous, and worth the 3 star rating if not more! C
