“A perfect hotel”
I stayed second time in the Sofitel Bangkok at Sukhumvit road. Not only the location is perfect in a hot spot area, you have the Skytrain directly in front of you. I stayed second time in the Sofitel Bangkok at Sukhumvit road. Not only the location is perfect in a hot spot area, you have the Skytrain directly in front of you. The "Skyscraper" hotel is modern, very clean with a touch of France. There is a large pool also if needed. A roof top bar too. Large breakfast buffet anyway. Rooms are big enough, nice furniture and a big bathroom. Nearly no noise from the busy and loud street. The room was perfectly cleaned and prepared especially by Poy and this always friendly and with a big smile ! The general staff everywhere is helpful and friendly too. No complaints. So I can recommend the hotel in any case for that Bangkok area.

“A much improved experience”

This was our second stay and appreciably better than the first. It was also our first stay at an Accor property with Platinum status, which gave us complimentary Club Millesime access. The rooms here are very comfortable but be prepared for a typically Asian hard bed. This time we had a room close to the elevators which we generally don’t like but there was minimal noise. We also made very good use of the gym and the pool area. An ongoing bugbear is the smoking area which is next to the covered daybeds at the pool. The waft of cigarette smoke isn’t pleasant but at least - unlike our first stay - there was no-one actually smoking inside the daybeds. The level of service at the pool was greatly improved with the team kindly bringing us iced water on arrival. The standard at the club lounge has lifted considerably with better food options, especially at afternoon tea. There appears to also be more options for happy hour in the evenings. On our first night we were gobsmacked to see natural oysters available on the buffet! But what sets the lounge apart is the team - they did their utmost to look after us and we enjoyed their company. There are so many people to mention and I apologise if I’ve missed anyone but our great thanks to Khun Nok, Hack, Tide, Nice, Gift, Thanita, Kik, Macky, Sindy, Kung and Nan. The hotel is in a great location, especially if you take the airport train to Phaya Thai and change for the Sukhumvit BTS line. It’s a very short walk either from Nana or Asok stations - the latter is slightly longer but via an elevated covered walkway that enters the hotel at the 3rd floor. A good option if the weather is brutal. Given flights from Sydney arrive in Bangkok mid-late afternoon, the train is a solid option to avoid the crazy road traffic.
