If you’re exploring the city and need a place to crash, this hotel is functional. It is within walking distance of many attractions Despite the reviews on Google, it's a pretty nice hotel, no perks, no luxury... but it has everything you need for an overnight stay. However be cautious if you are on autistic spectrum, with sensory sensitivities or just seeking quiet. I can confirm that you won't get a smile at the reception, and while lobby Wi-Fi is advertised, it didn’t work during our four-day stay. It's a huge hotel, with a restaurant, shops inside... It has that Victorian feel, when the aristocracy had huge mansions, with huge staircases... I can just imagine ladies in wide gowns walking down those spiral wide staircases, and carpets that were wonderfully thick, absorbing noise and feathering as you walked up them. Elevator... unbelievable, but this gigantic big hotel has only 1 working terribly small elevator, hardly for two people with suitcases... it has no safety sensors... after a few seconds the door just closes, no matter if someone is in the door or not... Somehow we and other people still managed to be painfully squeezed by them The room - It was big enough, the furniture was old, but we weren't bothered. - One bottle of drinking water per person every day. - The wardrobe had a light on when you opened it, which was a big plus. - The bed with spring mattresses, when one person turned it on, the other person jumped on it too :D - The window didn't close properly, but like I said, if you're just going to sleep and spend your days elsewhere, it doesn't matter. - There was no soap in the bathroom at all during our 4 day stay... so we took a bottle of shower shampoo from the shower and used that as soap. - As this was our first stay in Thailand, we were very pleasantly surprised to be given a hygienically packed toothbrush with mini toothpaste every day. - Any towel that was barely used was exchanged for a clean one. However, it was not thrown in the bath or on the floor (as we are used to in the EU and USA). - we had our own router in the room with our own wifi name and wifi pwd - A bumgun is a given. Breakfast was varied, the same thing every day and really not much European choice... More like American choice... No cheese, no different kinds of bread, just one sweet toasted one... there were cooked dishes, sweet bread on toast, 2 kinds of jam, butter, tomatoes, lettuce, cucumbers... red melon and dragon fruit... one morning there was an extra pineapple of all of them.... . there was coffee in those big thermos flasks, tea in 2 glass teapots on the hotplates, with an awful lot of tea bags in each one... there were juices... we went early in the morning, just after they opened, so the lack of choice was not because the food was already gone. Another interesting thing, at least for me it was strange... to go for breakfast we were given paper coupons... little blue squares with handwritten dates when you could go for breakfast... a person sat outside the breakfast room collecting these papers... she only let people in with valid papers. Checkout - Although we were told luggage storage was free, staff attempted to charge us upon drop-off. I would definitely not recommend the hotel for people with autism who have problems with e.g. sounds. - there is air conditioning in the room, which was very noisy - Until the early hours of the morning there was an annoying whistling sound every few seconds for about 10 seconds... After 2 nights we found out that it was the lift... We weren't living right next to it, but the noise was carried through the building, so we could hear it in our room. - Also, the bed in the room seemed to vibrate (like mini electric shocks) when you lay on it... and it only stopped in the early hours of the morning... I don't know if it had something to do with the lift... my husband, who is neurotypical, didn't feel it... I felt it on both sides of the bed... - Loud noise from the street until at least 2 a.m. But when you've been walking around all day, you're so tired you don't notice.
