This hotel is the best in Bangkok! I've been lucky enough to stay at several exceptional hotels across Thailand but this is by far my favourite and I will be staying here for every return visit. I cannot recommend it highly enough. The service is flawless with staff going out of their way to help. The rooms are airy, spacious and so comfortable and the food is divine. They have so many restaurants on site, all outstanding and I still dream of their breakfast and their buffet supper night, honestly! The location is fabulous, right next to the mall and in easy reach of everything and anything you may need in the city. It proved the perfect base to explore all parts of Bangkok and the surrounding areas and there was never a dull moment with so much offered at the hotel and on the doorstep. The pool is not done justice in the photos, its huge and so much fun with two hot tubs and cocktails bought to you as you lie around, escaping the heat and yet still feeling very much part of the city. The only downside was that I wasn't here long enough but it does mean I cannot wait to return. EDITED TO ADD - my son reached out to this hotel for help a year after our stay as he was in a spot of bother as he landed back in Bangkok. They remembered him and went out of their way to help him and his partner despite them not being guests at that time. This is the level of exceptional service and care they offer and is testament to the professionalism you can expect here. Truly remarkable service.

Dearest Gentle Reader, I have been staying at The Pathumwan Princess Hotel for many years and enough to visit every year. The Pathumwan Princess is part of the MBK shopping centre and is readily reachable from either the Siam or the National Stadium BTS stations. From the airport, you simply get on the Air Train to its terminus at Phaya Thai. There you connect to the Skytrain station of the same name. The Pathumwan Princess is a large hotel with rooms of various categories spanning the almost 30 floors. All provide a city view, some over the swimming pool and some towards the Discovery Centre. Rooms in all categories provide a very comfortable range of facilities with all being of a very generous size.My personal preference is for one of the various suites as these give you extra space and access to the Club Lounge. On arrival at check-in I was escorted to the dedicated first-class area where formalities were completed. The eight lifts to the rooms were just around the corner. My Executive Junior Suite was 1410 and I was immediately impressed. On entry, you are in a small vestibule area where there are controls for the lighting system and also an electronic “do not disturb/please clean the room” sign. The huge room is divided into sections by an extremely attractive wall formation. Go straight ahead and you are in the large sitting room with a huge wall mounted TV, large, L-shaped settee and a table. There is a microwave and and ample storage space. Filtered water is safely available from a dispenser. Some of this has been saved into jugs and placed in the fridge to cool it. The entire suite is climate controlled with a setting in the lounge and another one in the bedroom. There is a large floor-to-ceiling window in the sitting room, overlooking the pool and onto the city beyond. This has very adequate blackout curtains. Sliding doors divide the sitting room from the bedroom, which is of an equal size. Again the same windows and blackout arrangements exist. There is a huge king-size bed with incredibly soft and comfortable pillows and duvet. I slept well and in comfort. There is a glass topped writing desk, a small side table and a large chair with foot rest. The room is tastefully decorated and coordinated and has modern light attachments. Leading from the bedroom, again, through sliding doors, you enter a huge bathroom. This is very attractively tiled throughout.There is a double sink with mirrors and plenty of space for your personal belongings. There is ample hand wash and lotion available.A big shower cubicle exists that has a seat and again every conceivable toiletry. To one side, there is a huge deep soaking tub, again with wall mounted toiletries, and a very attractive coordinated rack towards the foot. This has soap and bath crystals, and a very useful stand to support a book. The toilet is to one side and there are hooks on the walls for towels and robes et cetera. Next comes the dressing room which has lots of storage space and a safe. An ironing board and iron is provided. There is a full-size refrigerator with ice compartment in the entrance area This is replenished daily with two cans of cola and two of beer. As a non-alcohol drinker I asked reception to make this all cola and this request was well received, though not always fulfilled. There is Wi-Fi throughout the hotel, though the password system might benefit from being reviewed. The cleaning staff were very pleasant and efficient, and the do not disturb sign was always respected. Breakfast can be taken in the Citi Restaurant, but this can be busy. Residents of suites have the option to take breakfast in the club lounge, which is more civilised. The range of food items may be slightly smaller however it is more than adequate. There is a comprehensive list of cooked items can be ordered individually from the kitchen. I used this facility on two occasions and I found the Eggs Benedict to be delicious. Afternoon tea is available in the club lounge from 11:00 to 17:00 each day. The sandwich collection changes every day. There are also pastries and cakes available, plus a variety of drinks. At 17:30 the evening snacks menu begins, with complimentary alcoholic drinks included. This runs until 19:30. The lounge closes at 21:00. Strictly speaking, the club lounge has a dress code, however I estimate that at least 80% of attendees disregarded this and the standard was not enforced by the staff. I am undecided whether that is a good thing or not. The range of food available was extensive and very generous. All staff were courteous and extremely attentive. There are two other restaurants available within the hotel plus the city buffet in the evening. Guests have access to the extensive gym facilities and also to the outdoor pool and outdoor lounge area plus to the two hot tubs. Pool towels are freely available and the large area is extremely calming and peaceful. There is a spa on site. My return to The Pathumwan Princess was a delightful experience. I didn’t have the opportunity to meet with the new general manager after a period of no contact with anyone since his predecessor moved on. There is every indication, however, that new ideas have been implemented, and these do appear to be very positive. I have no hesitation in awarding a five star rating, which this reviewer does not do lightly. I am also pleased to continue to recommend The Pathumwan Princess as the hotel of preference to my personal clients planning a visit to Bangkok. There is now a massive range of luxury hotels in Bangkok, which is great for the guest. In my opinion, however, The Pathumwan Princess has the edge on its competitors due to its location and extensive facilities.
