While some of the recent reviews had us worried, the hotel has been everything we hoped for. Service is excellent. Having arrived at the hotel after 1 am, the desk host was alert, welcoming, and efficient. The correspondence before arrival to confirm our reservation, especially with the switch of owners after we originally booked, was responded to quickly and provided the reassurance that our reservation was confirmed with late arrival. The room is luxurious, the hot water is plentiful, although we are using the cold shower after hot days outside! Everything is in working order. We enjoyed the Speakeasy al fresco bar at sunset and then dinner at Medici, where service and food were excellent, and we were treated to a talented trio of Violinist, sporano and baritone. Location is convenient.

As you enter the hotel you are greeted with ornate balustrade railings, black marble and emerald-green banker lamps as you make your way to reception. We arrived at Hotel Muse around 9.00am from an international flight. We enquired about an early check in and were advised we could pay 2000Bht ($88.00 AUD) as we were tired, we agreed. We had purchased a Luxury Escape package with Club access, welcome cocktails and breakfast. Check was smooth (add to this later) and we were ushered to our room and given a quick briefing on the workings of the room. The Club (La Boutique) was held on the 19th floor in the Barbette restaurant. Between 4-6pm pre-dinner drinks are seerved with a buffet of hot & cold tapas. We tired to access the Speakeasy rooftop bar on our first night to redeem our welcome cocktails (included in the package) only to be told it was closed for a private function. This incident left us embarrassed and could have been managed better if we were informed at check in or by email prior to our arrival as we only stayed 2 nights. Details of which the hotel had. Breakfast for the club lounge guests was also taken in the Barbette restaurant with a good selection of food. What was missing was the bloody Mary and the donuts. Our room was a corner Yama Executive on the 22nd floor with it's dark mahogany tones and marble bathroom, was a peaceful and confortable oasis with views of the pool and the city sky scrappers. We did eventually enjoy the Speakeasy bar for ONE night but the upper level was closed on the night we were there. (Was open the night of the private function) The pool & gym are located on the 19th floor both are on the smaller side but adequate. I would like to say our stay was a flawless experience but this was not the case. Receiption staff were cold and not helpful at all. Just went through the motions. They are the first impressions for guests and it is not a good look. As for the rest of the hotel staff, it was a delight to see them each day. Maybe some training by these staff members might help. Now a Marriott hotel, you can observe that focus on enchancing a guests experience is no longer a priority. Although the location is on point, and while we did enjoy certain aspects of this hotel, would we stay here again would depend on the deal we got as there are plenty of hotels in Bangkok.

We enjoyed the Gothic art deco of this hotel. Rooms were nice and clean, restaurant staff were nice and the food was good. There were minor issues such as sink congestion. Unfortunately reception staff didn't know what they were doing. At first they didn't offer early check-in even though we'd asked for it twice and it was available; they insisted that some guests pay in advance, but not others; they changed our long-standing king room reservation to a twin in the system right in front of us, and then denied it, withheld it and asked for proof that we'd booked a king in the first place!; and somehow they managed to spend 20 minutes for check-out even if we were the only guests there. All these complications were unnecessary and left a bad taste of what could have been a nice stay.
