We stayed here, as a part of our honeymoon, before flying to Soneva Kiri. We stay at Muse every time, we are in Bangkok, we were thinking of staying at one of the big luxury hotels by the river, but that part of the city is a bit… dull for our taste. So we decided, hey we like Muse, love the area (one of the most exclusive areas of Bangkok), easy access to the sky train, luxury shopping malls, loads of food options and easy to reach by Grab from the airport, so why stay anywhere else? We stayed in the 215 m2 penthouse, it’s HUGE! It has a medium sized, semi outdoor space and 2 smaller balconies. It’s located I believe on the 23rd floor, and takes up more than 1/3 of that entire floor. The views, especially at sunrise or at night, from especially the bath, the semi outdoor space or the chaise long in the living room were amazing! One thing, if there is a kitchen, there should at least be basic things, such as plates, glasses, cutlery, napkins, tea towels… to have nothing but a microwave and a fridge, not only makes the room totally redundant, but turns it into a room of annoyance and irritation. And make sure the kitchen is cleaned and attended to when the room is serviced twice a day, we were there 5 nights, and never once were the coffee stains in the sink cleaned, an empty plastic bottle was found behind the curtain in the living room, and no hand towel was ever provided for the guest toilet. Small things, but so basic, a guest shouldn’t have to ask. That said, EVERYTHING else was top clean! The suite would be great, for also entertaining a small group of family, friends or business connections. The suites use to have “China Tang” bathroom products, but now even the penthouse offers only the standard, Muse basic bathroom products, which is a bit of a shame. We were happy to see, breakfast is again served at Babette’s, an eating venue on one of the upper floors, believe it was 19th floor, an amazing light and bright space with super nice views, such a positive space to start the day. The buffet itself, pretty good and now with added al a carte options. The Speakeasy, was closed the evening, we wanted to go, and the following, due to a corporate event, but it’s always a nice space, cool music and stunning views, worth a visit even if not staying here. Is Muse hotel the newest, most exclusive, best known 5 star hotel in Bangkok, with staff all educated in Switzerland, with Michelin kitchens and 3 keys? No! It is starting to show its age, but it’s in one of the best locations (safe and great for a walk in the big park down the road), it has charm, kind, helpful and happy looking employees, very reasonable priced hotels in Bangkok and we REALLY like it! To be fair, some air conditioning units, are…. let’s say not to be overheard, but the one thing that really isn’t cool for a 5 star hotel, is the WIFI… we have NEVER EVER stayed at a place, with such bad connection, didn’t matter if in the suite, restaurant, pool or reception. Staff often opened up, their hot spot, for us to communicated with Grab drivers, which was super kind of them, but the hotel got to get that fixed now! It’s 2024, can’t be a 5 star hotel forces you, to STAND in one or two special spots, in your suite to get, just a low connection or to completely loos it in the reception. Muse is our favourite place to stay, with its little flaws and huge “heart” and personality, we are coming back for sure! Thanks for another lovely stay and we see you again!

As you enter the hotel you are greeted with ornate balustrade railings, black marble and emerald-green banker lamps as you make your way to reception. We arrived at Hotel Muse around 9.00am from an international flight. We enquired about an early check in and were advised we could pay 2000Bht ($88.00 AUD) as we were tired, we agreed. We had purchased a Luxury Escape package with Club access, welcome cocktails and breakfast. Check was smooth (add to this later) and we were ushered to our room and given a quick briefing on the workings of the room. The Club (La Boutique) was held on the 19th floor in the Barbette restaurant. Between 4-6pm pre-dinner drinks are seerved with a buffet of hot & cold tapas. We tired to access the Speakeasy rooftop bar on our first night to redeem our welcome cocktails (included in the package) only to be told it was closed for a private function. This incident left us embarrassed and could have been managed better if we were informed at check in or by email prior to our arrival as we only stayed 2 nights. Details of which the hotel had. Breakfast for the club lounge guests was also taken in the Barbette restaurant with a good selection of food. What was missing was the bloody Mary and the donuts. Our room was a corner Yama Executive on the 22nd floor with it's dark mahogany tones and marble bathroom, was a peaceful and confortable oasis with views of the pool and the city sky scrappers. We did eventually enjoy the Speakeasy bar for ONE night but the upper level was closed on the night we were there. (Was open the night of the private function) The pool & gym are located on the 19th floor both are on the smaller side but adequate. I would like to say our stay was a flawless experience but this was not the case. Receiption staff were cold and not helpful at all. Just went through the motions. They are the first impressions for guests and it is not a good look. As for the rest of the hotel staff, it was a delight to see them each day. Maybe some training by these staff members might help. Now a Marriott hotel, you can observe that focus on enchancing a guests experience is no longer a priority. Although the location is on point, and while we did enjoy certain aspects of this hotel, would we stay here again would depend on the deal we got as there are plenty of hotels in Bangkok.
