The property is well-maintained and offers lots of amenities and services. It is plush and stylish. Rooms are equipped with stove, microwave, refrigerator, utensils, pots, pans, plates, and other necessities. There is a small dining table and a living area. There is an ample gym, an executive lounge, nice pool and whirlpool, laundry and ironing, and the hotel offers a very delicious-looking breakfast, although I cannot attest to its taste since I am vegetarian and limited my selections. Nonetheless, the food was quite eye-appealing and extensive. My reservation experience was also very satisfactory. I tried to book a prepaid rate online and had difficulties getting the system to accept the payment, so I telephoned the property. The attendant told me not to worry, confirmed my booking, and allowed me to receive the prepaid rate on a post-paid basis. I only have one small suggestion for the property---employ a concierge. I relied on the front desk staff several times for advice on local transportation, tourist attractions, the malls, nightlife, and other such matters and the girls on the front desk were not very knowledgeable on most of those things and had limited English ability. As an out-of-towner, I would have appreciated local advice from a concierge who spoke moderate level English. I speak a bit of Thai and the front desk personnel spoke a little (or more) English. Together we communicated and the staff tried diligently to respond to my queries, but lacked the knowledge. Tips to travelers is to research in advance. FYI there are motorcycle taxis, tuk tuks, and song taews. No metered taxis. The motorcycle taxis offer very reasonable prices and do not take advantage of tourists. Song taew is fixed price, like 10 baht, but also fixed route, not published. Requires research. Tuk-tuks are overpriced. Visiting the ruins requires employing a tuk tuk or other vehicle with a driver since the various sites are too far apart to walk, although they look much closer on a map. It would be nice if the hotel could assist with making such arrangements. Again, a concierge would be useful. No maps available at the ticket offices, but the hotel can provide maps beforehand, although they are written in Thai. Would be helpful if there was an English version. I also inquired about utilizing a boat for my return trip to Bangkok, but no one was familiar with that. There are roundtrip boat cruises originating out of Bangkok, but I don't believe they go all the way to Ayutthaya; I believe they stop at Bang Pa-in prior to Ayutthaya. I was interested in a one-way return. I took the train from BKK to Ayutthya (15 baht). I paid 70 baht to a motorcycle taxi from train station to the hotel; paid 50 baht from hotel to train station on the return. All said, I could not have been more pleased with the hotel and the staff, including Nan and Tip on the front desk, among others. A concierge would have been quite valuable. I did notice lots of guests (mostly Japanese) with golf clubs, so I presume there is a quality golf course nearby. This property is located close enough to two malls. Guests can walk to the nearby hospital where you can find a motorcycle stand to take you to the malls. The nightlife, what there is of it, is walkable in the other direction. There's not a whole lot of nightlife, but I found a place called New Cow Boy which had a terrific local band with great service and staff. There are other smaller venues in the vicinity. Definitely worth staying at the Kantary Hotel. Other properties may be closer to the ruins, but motorcycle taxi is cheap and can get you wherever you want to go. Hotel staff also offered to call tuk tuk or Grab, if you prefer.
