It looked like a very new hotel. The room was modern, nicely furnished and had everything we needed. It had a kettle, which is not commonly found in Swiss hotels. The service at the front desk was decent. Breakfast was also decent, with its wait staff trying their best despite its earlier-than-usual opening - breakfast starts from 6.30am. The hotel is around a 10-15 minutes leisurely walk from Zurich HB station. It is located near the shopping street, opposite the Jelmoli department store, but it is not noisy. There is also a supermarket just downstairs. Its rooms are well-insulated. It was my last stop before departing Switzerland and I had a peaceful, nice stay at Hotel Seidenhof.

“Everything was Wonderful: room, bed, shower, staff and incredible breakfast”

We arrived early and our room was ready (before noon). Front desk was helpful with suggestions and directions. The location is great. We arrived early and our room was ready (before noon). Front desk was helpful with suggestions and directions. The location is great. Many places are walkable, the tram/streetcar is right there, and we used an Uber to go farther. The bed was comfortable, the shower was very good. Our room had a desk and chair, but we wanted a second chair and it was brought to us. As others have raved, the breakfast was the terrific. It was something to look forward to every morning. It was helpful to find an Aldi store around the corner. We were able to pick up some juice, soda and snacks (at grocery store prices and not tourist prices).

“Disappointing compared to what it should be!”

The more I stay the more I notice about minor issues. Simply too many. Rooms are beginning to be a bit dated but are better than others at some competitors, the size simply isn’t enough. The more I stay the more I notice about minor issues. Simply too many. Rooms are beginning to be a bit dated but are better than others at some competitors, the size simply isn’t enough. The food doesn’t seem to change with the restaurant simply not catering to those who don’t want a 5 star meal. The bar is small and noisy and the rooms at the front into the main road hear noise from the streets all night long followed by deliveries at 545am! Disappointing

PROS: LOCATION was great - close to everything. ROOM was clean and stylish. BED and linens were comfortable BREAKFAST was included and had a decent variety of options CONS: Disliked · ROOM was tiny! I had the single and my bed took the entire wall. I literally could not open my suitcase. NO conditioner or any toiletries included other than liquid hand wash and shampoo. SERVICE was average and below my expectations for the price paid: 1/There was 1 bottle of Sparkling water included for the entire stay which I didn't realize until I opened it and when I requested another bottle that was still water, the front desk told me that I only get 1 bottle per stay and that was that. 2/ While the breakfast was decent, one of the ladies (tall, slender, younger brunette) was borderline rude and never smiled once during the 2 breakfasts we had at the hotel; the second morning she started yelling at people 20min before the breakfast time was up, and kept repeating that they are closing the breakfast soon and to hurry up. FRONT DESK - Never asked us if we needed help with suggestions on what to see or what restaurants to go to. Never told us that a public transportation day pass is included with a stay. Just not very proactive or engaging with guests. ***CHARGE FOR ROOM*** I had prepaid in full for the hotel (2 rooms/2 nights) however, upon check-in they asked for a credit card for accidentals. Usually this is a small amount but they charged (not as pending transaction but actually charged!!!) 2 rooms @ 2 nights = $200 in addition to the prepaid amount of over $1200 for 2 small rooms. Now I have to wait to find out from my credit card if the charge went through or if it was reversed. Just annoyed at this point.
