I first came to the Soldanella on the recommendation of a close friend who has been using the hotel (a few times a year) for over two decades. The location, overlooking the lake, is quite spectacular so it's definitely worth paying the extra for a rear facing room. The rooms are spacious and very well appointed with more than adequate storage and hanging space. During the winter season, it is a real mecca for anyone related to the St. Moritz Tobogganing Club (STMC ) - whenever the run is open, you're guaranteed to find excitable Cresta Riders staying here and in the afternoon / evening, they'll be in the bar and restaurant, regaling stories of their morning's endeavours, fastest times, near misses and spectacular falls. Whether enjoying dinner in the bar or in the restaurant (breakfast, lunch and dinner) the food served is always of the highest standard. Urs and his excellent team always do everything in their power to make our stay perfect - the "Solly" is the ONLY place to stay in St. Moritz.

A very nice quaint hotel in downtown St Moritz. Rooms were nice and clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. A short walk from the train station. The restaurant at dinner was wonderful. The breakfast was average with their buffet. I thought it was poor taste in changing me extra for two shambled eggs that the buffet left off. Good location with some good views. Price was competitive.

“Perfect if you’re a heavy smoker”

The negatives are: The whole place smells of stale cigarettes which we assumed when we arrived was because someone had stepped out for a cigarette and it had wafted inside. The plus is the view - if you get a lake view room. The negatives are: The whole place smells of stale cigarettes which we assumed when we arrived was because someone had stepped out for a cigarette and it had wafted inside. At 5.00 the quite rude lady from behind reception was sitting at the bar smoking which we found extraordinary in this day and age. We sat outside but it wafted through the vents. Then all the locals oiled in as the smoking continued until after 11.00pm - we know as sadly our room overlooked the lake but also was above the bar so with the window open (it was warm and there is no aircon) the foils smell wafted out of vent and up to room. I really am staggered people are still smoking inside any building. In addition the hotel is dated and shabby, the food is very mediocre and the only pleasant staff are the ones in the dining area.
