My family and i, decided to take a quick visit to Sweden sins we never had done so. We live in Denmark and was interested in seeing Malmö city. So, we stayed at Scandic Malmö City Hotel. Overall, a very affordable hotel to a very good standard. :-) There is always something that cult be better so there for i will focus on the positive. Quiet, Easy, Affordable, great breakfast, many parking possibility, and a welcoming staff.

I stayed at this hotel during Eurovision week in Malmö in May 2024. I booked it just one week before ESC, and I was really lucky with what I got. The hotel is very centrally located, making it easy to reach any part of town, including a quick taxi ride to Malmö Arena. The building itself is quite old, and the hotel isn’t exactly “fresh” or recently renovated, but it’s still in very good shape and was kept clean throughout my stay. There’s a small kiosk next to the front desk where you can buy snacks and drinks. My check-in was smooth and easy. I had made two separate reservations (one through the official Scandic app and the other through a third-party hotel website) for two different room types, as that was the only option available during Eurovision week. But the front desk guy took care of it and upgraded me to one Family Superior Kitchenette Room for my entire stay, combining the two reservations. One of them was originally just a Standard Room booking, so this free upgrade was really sweet of him, making my stay much easier. On top of that, he fulfilled my pre-arrival requests for a high-floor room with a nice city view. I absolutely love front desk staff like him - professional, friendly, and always knowing how to handle things. My Family Superior Kitchenette Room was on the 6th floor (#606). It was a large corner room, almost the size of a studio apartment, with views of two different parts of Malmö, which was awesome! The room also got plenty of natural daylight, which I loved. The room was very clean. Its design was pretty basic, but I felt comfortable. Most of the furniture was in good condition, though a few things weren’t in the best shape. For example, the TV was small and outdated, and the sofa and chairs seemed dusty and not very clean. I also noticed some big dirty marks on the white walls. On the plus side, the little kitchen was great, with all the essential amenities. The bed was very comfortable, and I liked that the bedroom was somewhat separated from the kitchen and living room area, tucked around a corner. The hotel provided bathrobes and slippers, which was a nice touch. My least favorite part of the room was the bathroom. It was very small and felt like a bathroom you’d find in a hospital or cheap roadside motel. The toilet was right next to the shower, and instead of a proper shower stall, there was just a piece of glass attached to the wall. As a result, water would get all over the bathroom floor, flooding the space if either my partner or I took a long shower. The shower water pressure wasn’t great either, and the shower construction felt old. The same issue existed with the sink - water pressure was weak, and the water barely came out. On the bright side, the standard Scandic bathroom amenities were of very good quality. The Wi-Fi worked really fast throughout my stay. Breakfasts were good too. The variety of food wasn’t huge, but everything was fresh and tasty. I also appreciated how the hotel decorated for Eurovision week, with Eurovision-themed decor all over the lobby and Eurovision music playing every day. Loved that! The downside for me was the price I paid. My reservation rates were approximately $190 per night for one booking and $320 per night for the other. I understand why the rates were high due to Eurovision week, but it was still a lot of money. Even though the hotel is good, it’s not exactly luxury to justify $320 per night. To sum up, I definitely recommend this hotel for staying in Malmö. It has all the necessary amenities for a comfortable stay in the heart of the city.
