This would have to rate as the best place we stayed in over 5 weeks of our Scandinavian and Icelandic adventure. It was excellent value for money. The breakfast and breakfast room were amazing. The hotel was a perfect joining of modern art meets antiques. The staff were extremely welcoming and helpful. I honestly could not rate this place highly enough. The location was perfect - a short walk from the main train station and again to the main square. Beautiful fittings and even an antique desk in our room. The library where we were able to have coffee was very tastefully decorated. This place is the yardstick that every other hotel should measure themselves by. Our only regret is we were not able to stay longer. An absolute jewel in the crown of Sweden's tourism industry.

“Great quiet location, large clean room, friendly 24/7 staff. lovely breakfast”

We were a couple staying 4 nights in late September on our first visit to Sweden. The 24 hour front desk was welcoming and checked us in quickly. The team staff the desk 24/7 and always helpful. We were a couple staying 4 nights in late September on our first visit to Sweden. The 24 hour front desk was welcoming and checked us in quickly. The team staff the desk 24/7 and always helpful. The room was larger than expected, quiet, clean and well supplied with shampoo, drier, kettle, tea etc. There is also 24 hour free tea and coffee in the library opposite reception. Cleaning is on request. The breakfast is in the restored arched basement and offers a wide range of hot and cold items, there is plenty of room. Last but not least there is the lift, a wonderful art deco example which reminds one of Poirot or the third man with its double doors. We loved it, but there are only two floors up and one down from reception so no great need. A great hotel.

I was staying one night in Malmö, arriving and leaving by train, so was looking for something close to the station. There were a number of hotels but I chose this quirky non-chain hotel as the website and price both appealed. It was lovely, far better than I expected. Like a number of places I have stayed on this trip, it is not that accessible if you have mobility issues as there are stairs from the street to the reception but that would be my one criticism. The reception staff were welcoming and although I was early were fine to check me in without any surcharge so I could begin my walk around the old town after depositing my case in my room. I had booked a small double which came equipped with a mini fridge, kettle and hair dryer. I was not expecting the kettle and coffee making equipment as when I checked in the receptionist pointed out that there was tea and coffee available 24/7 in the library off reception. The hotel makes much of its’ history, deservedly so as it is one of the most historic buildings in Malmö, first built in 1350 according to a book left in my room, but rebuilt and modified a number of times since then. There are original art works throughout the hotel. The lift is a delight, dating back to the 1930s but it still worked. The TV in my room also worked, which is a first on this trip. And many of the programmes were in English with Swedish subtitles so for the first time I could watch something other than BBC news in my room. The shower room was compact but beautifully tiled in black and white tiles giving an art deco feel to the room. I would recommend this hotel to anyone needing to stay in Malmö

My room was a nice size for one or 2 people. I liked the comfortable bed and that the room had two chairs. The shower had good water pressure and plenty of hot water. There was enough counter space in the washroom for all of my things. There were also multiple surfaces in the room to place things. … more

My room was a nice size for one or 2 people. I liked the comfortable bed and that the room had two chairs. The shower had good water pressure and plenty of hot water. There was enough counter space in the washroom for all of my things. There were also multiple surfaces in the room to place things. It was quiet and safe. The breakfast was outstanding. I would definitely stay here again. The location was excellent.
