“Grat stay close to center”

We stayed over the weekend at the hotel and have positive feedback for all services we used: room, parking, breakfast, bar. Great location, 20ish minutes by foot or couple of minutes and 3-4 stations by tram. Supermarket and food facilities close to the hotel.

We stayed for 2 nights in a Deluxe Suite. Breakfast was good and the view was rather spectacular. The location of the hotel was out of the centre of town and appeared best suited to people attending the Amusement Park or the Convention Centre. That said there were a number of convenient tram lines to connect to the city centre. The room was expensive, spacious, however not actually very comfortable. The bathroom was large, shower small and dominated by a bath. Given the location and the room facilities we may have been better suited to a more central location.

“Internet service is not good”

Average hotel in an awkwardly, confusingly designed convention center. The hotel is fine if you’re attending a convention or going to the amusement park across the street. Average hotel in an awkwardly, confusingly designed convention center. The hotel is fine if you’re attending a convention or going to the amusement park across the street. Other than that, I’d prefer to stay in the downtown area. Efficient check in and check out. Good size room, bed was ok, tv had only a couple of channels in English. Few amenities in room. Quiet overall, except when there’s very loud music coming from the park in the evenings - very bothersome. Bathroom was small. No bath tub, shower stall allowed for water to go to bath floor. Toiletries ok. Towels were very thin. Hotel does not provide electric outlet adapters, rather they sell it for 3 times the price I paid in a store downtown. Internet service was not good, it often went out. Breakfast ok, although staff can be rude and start removing food way before 9:30 when breakfast ends. Nothing remarkable about this place.

Gothia Towers and Upper House is a business and convention hotel. The property is massive, consisting of three separate towers and something like 1,200 hotel rooms. Gothia Towers and Upper House is a business and convention hotel. The property is massive, consisting of three separate towers and something like 1,200 hotel rooms. It's like staying in a huge Las Vegas convention hotel or one of the big New York City hotels. I can't speak to all of the rooms as some of the categories look very basic. I had a room in the newer premium category. The premium room had a beautiful interior design. The wood is stunning. However, some of the design was impractical, featured things that did not work, or were missing things. 1) The door opens outward into the hallway, which I have never seen before. This is a safety hazard because you open your door into the hallway without knowing who or what is in the hallway. You could potentially hit someone. 2) No deadbolt or chain for extra security on the door. 3) Only two USB outlets; one on each side of the bed. No USB outlet at the desk. Only 1 accessible electrical outlet at the desk. 4) The sofa is gorgeous but it occupies too much space in what is a really small room. There is very little space to put luggage or store clothing that doesn't hang in the closet. I'm not sure there would be enough space for 2 people with separate luggage or for one person staying more than 2 or 3 days. The sofa should really be half the size. 5) The curtains are manual. I would expect electronic blackout curtains in a newly renovated room. 6) The double bed is actually two twin-sized beds pushed together with a noticeable gap between the two mattress pads. 7) The dispensers in the bathroom that contain toiletry products (soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash) don't dispense properly. Much of the product splashes onto the wall. The products also aren't branded. No lotion is provided. No mouthwash. No dental kit. And none of the other usual amenities you expect at a 4-star or 5-star hotel. 8) There is no electrical outlet in the bathroom for the hair dryer. 9) Counter space in the bathroom is limited. There are no drawers or extra shelves. There is barely enough space for one person to place their toiletries. There wouldn't be enough space for 2 people; a husband and a wife. I would compare my experience to a Hilton or Sheraton. At the lower end of 4 stars. No bellman or doorman. The front desk never offered assistance with luggage. I never saw a concierge. No welcome letter. The hotel directory has been replaced by QR codes, which are annoying. No club lounge. While there was a mini-bar, consumed items like bottled water were not replaced. The quality of the wine in the mini-bar was awful. Housekeeping was inconsistent and not very good. Some days I received face cloths in addition to hand towels and body towels. Other days I received no face cloths. The linen on my bed was not changed. Dirty linen that was placed on the floor was put back on the bed instead of being replaced with clean linen. I called guest services and asked for lotion and mouthwash only to be told none were available. The hotel doesn't even provide a bar of soap; only a dispenser with liquid hand soap. Wifi was free and sufficient for all uses. The TV had two English channels; CNN and BBC News. No Sky. Premium rooms have access to an exclusive breakfast restaurant that includes ala carte dining on the 29th floor of Tower 3. I was on a mid-level floor in Tower 2. It made no sense to go down to the lobby and then walk to Tower 3 and take an elevator to the 29th floor when the standard breakfast restaurant (buffet) is on the 2nd floor of the main building. The regular restaurant is HUGE and feels like a cruise ship buffet restaurant, which is understandable given the number of guests. The selection was average for a Swedish hotel. Cheeses, meats, breads, cereals and hot food. I didn't see eggs made to order. Coffee was from a machine, which was an issue with refills. The juice was sugary. I didn't see any smoothies or freshly squeezed juice. Staff had a habit of clearing your table when you went up to get more coffee or something else from the buffet. It resulted in a tremendous amount of food waste. Overall, staying at the Gothia Towers & Upper House makes sense if you are here for business or a convention. The premium room was pretty close to a Hilton or Sheraton, although the bed is not as good as British and American hotel beds. My room was comfortable even with its design flaws. The location is okay for tourists (no more than 25 minutes walking distance from the major landmarks and tourist attractions). There are some good restaurants nearby as well as the new Volvo museum. The city art museum is also a short walk away. So, the location isn't bad.
