“Would stay again”

Fantastic hotel near the gardens, central train station, and waterfront. Came for World of Volvo experience, could not have selected a better hotel.

Positive first: The front staff is GREAT!!! They do service. They know service So applause to them. The hotel: It is BIG. The breakfast area at weekend is busy and you might be seated in an uncharming conference room. But during week days it is fine. The buffet is GREAT. Lovely food. Notice that you have to book breakfast slot. The latest in weekdays is 9.00 am. The rooms: We had two different rooms because the first de luxe was facing in ward (walls) and had no view or sun. The second had a lovely view. Ask for the rooms in the new bulling (facing out) since they have panorama view. I imagine this is amazing. The rooms in the older buling are a bit run down - but still nice. The pool: Take notice that the pool cost an enormous amount of money to go to. You have to pay around 300 SEK pr person to go for 2 hours. And book time. We did not know this in advance.Also kids are not allowed. This is not clear on booking sites and not clear on the hotel website either. Big disappointment. Fitness area: Fine but small. Busy in weekdays. Great yoga. They should offer this every morning. The hotel is situated in the center of Gothenburg - great placing. Close to everything.

Booked in here for a two night stay in Gothenburg - it had decent reviews, was close to the railway station and was within my budget. I arrived an hour earlier than the check in time of 3 pm but there was no issue with checking in early. The Hotel is huge, much bigger than I was expecting. I was directed to the lifts in one of the hotel wings (I think there are three) and a good thing is that you need a key card to operate the lift, this gives a level of security in such a big building as this with lots of people coming and going constantly. The hotel has two restaurants and a couple of bars but apart from breakfast I didn’t use them. One of the two days I was there was Sunday and the two restaurants, including the restaurant providing room service were closed on Sundays, leaving the only option of sandwiches in the bar. My room was on the fourth floor overlooking the train station, but I was not bothered by any excessive noise at all overnight. I don’t sleep well in any case, but not because of any noise as there was none. There was a large double bed, a long dressing table under the TV (so no mirror over the dressing table/desk). The TV had Netflix and other apps which I could sign into. You could also use Chrome cast. There was a safe, iron, mini fridge, hairdryer and kettle in the room. Plenty of hanging space. The one complaint I have was that I could not control the temperature in the room. I really feel the cold some times and although the temperature appeared to be set at 21.5 it did not feel that warm. There was a shower over the bath. The bathroom was quite spacious with plenty of space for toiletries, although I did not unpack that much as the hotel provides Rituals shampoo, soap etc. The towels appeared a bit worn but were clean. Breakfast resembled a rugby scrum on the Sunday morning. The person greeting at the door said they had opened extra tables but there was no sign of this. Every table appeared to be taken although we were all asked to pre-book a time for breakfast which I had done. So I got some juice and fruit and wandered around for about 10 minutes until I saw a table of people leaving. There were a number of tables of four or six with only two people sitting at them, but they had all spread coats and bags over the spare seats. There was a good choice, but it was difficult to enjoy my breakfast as I felt under siege. Luckily Monday morning was much calmer and there was a chef on the Monday who appeared to be cooking omelettes to order, he was not there on the Sunday. So I enjoyed my Monday breakfast! I liked the convenience of the hotel as it was next to the central station and main tram stops. My room was very good, although chilly, possibly because of the very high ceilings. But I would stay here again if I was in Gothenburg and the price was right.

We were unlucky and got a room facing the back of the building, which meant that the view was a bit miserable and the room was dark. Instead of one double bed, as we were told we would get, we got two singles pushed together. This in itself was no big deal, but these beds were old, tired, and not very comfortable. We had read mixed reviews on here, and were dissapointed to find the less enthusiastic ones to be true. I do think that some of the other rooms are of a higher standard, but I don’t think we will take the chance again.
