I spent 2 nights in the hotel during my working stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the room was clean. The breakfast was a varied buffet. The location of the hotel is great, you are practically a 5 minute walk from the park and the new museum complex. The pool on the 10th floor and the gym were a nice place to unwind after busy days.

I stayed at Hotel Valencia Centre in mid-to-late September, 2024. I chose it because the location was great (mid-way between the beach and old city centre). It's close to the Turia, museums and Oceanographic and a couple of shopping malls. So, in terms of location, this hotel is great and the price seemed reasonable. Unfortunately, there's still a lot left to be desired with this hotel. It claims it's a 4* hotel but I would say it's closer to a 3*. The room (and in fact entire hotel) decor needs a major upgrade. Old, dark woods, broken, sliding cupboard doors, and drab bathrooms require a long-overdue renovation. The curtains were a strange mustard colour that didn't fully extend the length of the windows. Be mindful too, that there is no light duvet in the rooms - there are two sheets only tp serve as a bed cover. This was my first experience of this and I have to say - I missed the weight of a heavier blanket/duvet. The bed mattree was firm, to almost a bit too hard. Sleep was fine though, as I had an eyemask and earplugs. With the style of this hotel and its rooms, you feel like you're stepping back into the 90s but without the optimism and general feeling of joy reminisent of the decade. I was pleased when I arrived that my room was ready and I could check straight in - fantastic. This feeling of service was very quickly soured when I went to iron my clothes for the afternoon and to my dismay - no iron. I rang down and was informed "we do not offer that service". Not a single iron in the whole hotel. This is the first time I have encountered this. So on my very first day, I was required to run around local laundrettes and shopping malls to find out what would be the most cost-effective to get my clothes ironed (I spent 25 euros on a travel iron in the end). It took an hour and a half of my precious holiday time. It's quite frankly, ridiculous, that one iron was not available for loan in the whole hotel. I understand irons being a fire hazard but would have been more than happy to use the iron and then return it immediately. My first night, I had to exchange rooms because of a loud clicking sound emenating from either the TV or the fridge (I never did determine which). The second room I was given was larger and nicer and I was thankful to the reception staff for doing this for me. The rest of the stay in the room was uneventful and the room was cleaned daily by housekeeping. On the last day, I was able to check out later for no cost which is another great aspect. I was happy that there was no stress associated with this. It is strange though that you don't pay on check out; the hotel takes your credit card details and "blocks out the charge" (I am still not sure what this means exactly) but I think they should either just keep one's credit card on file and then charge at the end or ask for payment upfront. I wasn't hugely comfortable having my card details taken in the manner they did. I was also emailed on the day I left saying housekeeping noted I took two items from the minibar of which they wanted to charge me, which was entirely incorrect (I never consume anything from minibars) and had to correct them on this manner. I didn't receive an email apology for this mistake. The reception layout is a bit of an open, nebulous space lacking comfortable lounge chairs and instead is decorated with hard-backed chairs. It's not a place you can really sit and relax - it's a place you simply pass through. I didn't opt for breakfast so on that, I cannot comment. I did see the pool/terrace and it's not great - small, cramped and with only 6 or so sunbeds. If you're in that area of Valencia though, the wide, golden beach is beautiful so the terrace facilities are a bit of a moot issue, in my opinion. In terms of staff, I only interacted with the reception staff who seemed mildly sullen and unwelcoming. I don't know if this is because their hands are tied with some of the strange rules of this hotel, but friendly is not a word I would really associate with the reception staff, sadly. I chose this hotel for location and price. Location is excellent but I can't whole-heartedly say this hotel gives one value for money. There's too much to be done in terms of asethetics and service delivery; it lacks modernity and the adaptibility of other similarly located hotels in the area. This is fine if you're charging people for what they can expect for the service, but sadly, this is where Hotel Valencia Cenre falls down.
