Booked as part of a city break holiday I was pleasantly surprised with this landmark hotel. It is well apportioned, well decorated, upholstered with comfortable beds and marble-tiled en-suite with bath and shower would sit comfortably with in the executive bracket but is also popular with families. My room and en-suite was spotlessly clean. There's a neo-Roman theme; the halls are marble floored, walls partly wood paneled and decorated with Romanesque frescoes. Most importantly it has a rooftop swimming pool with a bar and recreation area which opens from 1st June until some time in October. This was very popular with myself and many others taking the sun during my stay, but the management missed a trick by not providing a bar service at the pool and therefore missed out on considerable bar sales, especially in the afternoons. Of course, you could go to the ground floor bar and bring up your drinks but where's the holiday spirit in that? Another pleasant feature not found in many hotels these days is a manual air conditioning control by the bedside. As the hotel is situated on a busy road junction you'd expect some traffic noise but with the windows closed, it's not really an issue. Staff are pleasant, courteous and speak English. It's in a great location for those who want to take in all the churches, history and architecture of the Macarena area as well as the multitude of excellent tapas bars, but it is a bit of a trek from there into the centre where the Cathedral is. Of course you can get a taxi if you're flush and there are many buses available. There is no metro or rail link from the Airport to the hotel's location, so if you've got considerable baggage, taking a taxi would be the smart move, a single journey to or from the airport being around 30 euro. If you're traveling light, an Airport bus is a cheaper alternative at 5 euro. The bus will take you to the bus station but unfortunately this is not anywhere near the hotel, so further transport would be required unless you're feeling sporty. I didn't dine or take breakfast at the hotel, so cannot comment on the food. However, I'd be happy to return for the quality of the stay. Recommended.

Pool was closed even though it was 28 degrees, open only for their summer season. No restaurant as advertised and bar not manned. No tea and coffee facilities in the room. Pool was closed even though it was 28 degrees, open only for their summer season. No restaurant as advertised and bar not manned. No tea and coffee facilities in the room. Location quite good if you like walking, it's about 25 mins to the centre, bus stops just outside. Rooms clean and tidy, beds made daily. Most staff were friendly and helpful l, a few were grumpy. Rooms are on the main road so noisy.
