“Great choice of hotel”

Super for a touch of luxury after the Camino de Santiago. Close to bus and train station for getting away. Quiet if you're on the courtyard side. Super for a touch of luxury after the Camino de Santiago. Close to bus and train station for getting away. Quiet if you're on the courtyard side. Our pilgrim price included breakfast at the sports bar which was a croissant, cafe con leche and orange juice- delicious. Ate dinner at macburger nearby one night which was also good. Supermarket nearby for essentials. Comfortable beds. Clean. Great wifi. Good shower. Small issue with air con- seemed to still be in winter mode and only heating room despite outside temp of 26. Would recommend nonetheless.

“A pleasant stay (though as a "non-pilgrim") :)”

Although it was just for a 2-night stay while in this city specifically for a visit to the famous Catedral de Santiago de Compostela (having arrived by bus though and not after having done "the camino"), this hostel I would say left a "pretty-nice impression" with a nice single room where I stayed (with amenities of a good-sized bed, a flat-screen, a little table & a fairly-spacious ensuite). And nicely convenient (& also delicious) on both evenings of my stay were dinners at the Chinese restaurant at less than a 5-minute walk away: to the right after coming down onto the street in front of this place, then another right at the end of the block followed by a short walk and right across that street (where on the same side of the street is also some nice-sized supermarket). And also for food (more for like a snack/coffee) is the place just directly to the left after coming down from this place. So yes, getting done on the "day after arrival" was the visit to the Cathedral at about a 20-minute walk from this place (about 15 minutes to the "south-side entrance" to the area of the "old town" from which it's just about another 5 minutes to the Cathedral with the "big square" Praza do Obradoiro right in front). And also another easy walk for about 15 minutes from this place (but in a different direction from going to the Cathedral) is the "sizeable station" for long-distance buses such as FlixBus & Alsa (in my case arriving here by Alsa from Porto and departing by FlixBus to Paris).

“Excellent, helpful staff”

Great hotel, good location with secure underground parking ideal for cars or motorcycles. Manager could not have been more helpful - let us leave our motorcycles for a few hours in the parking area after checkout and stored our biking gear while we spent time looking round the town. Manager could not have been more helpful - let us leave our motorcycles for a few hours in the parking area after checkout and stored our biking gear while we spent time looking round the town. “Excellent, No Nonsense Stay”

Stayed in Room 508 for 3 nights The reception to the hotel is on the 4th floor, accessible via lifts. Check-in was professional, with the reception staff going through an established procedure including having to fill in a form and all the basic information guests need for their stay. The room has the layout of a small flat, with a mini hallway, a separate bathroom and a room equipped with a desk, chair, TV and bed. There’s no amenities like a kettle, tea, coffee etc. The room does have a window, although there’s nothing to see as it only opens out to an atrium. The desk and chair are good enough to work on. The bed had a medium-firm spring mattress, a thick cosy blanket and one of those long pillows the Spanish seem to be so fond of. I slept comfortably every night. The bathroom had a bathtub and shower. Although I only showered, the tub was certainly clean enough to take a bath if I’d wanted. The hotel supplied liquid soap and shampoo via dispensers. Location wise, the hotel is located about 5 minutes walk to Santiago de Compostela train station as well as the Santiago Train Station. It’s about 15 minutes, mainly an uphill walk towards the main sights of the city. The hotel does offer breakfast, but there are so many cafes around the area, there’s plenty of places to eat as well. There’s plenty of supermarkets around the hotel. Overall, Hostal México is a business-like budget hotel that is clean, comfortable and an excellent place to stay for several nights.
