“Beautiful hotel, except for the hot rooms”

Very nice location and overall hotel. Loved the neighborhood away from the center but close to everything and very walkable. Very nice location and overall hotel. Loved the neighborhood away from the center but close to everything and very walkable. Parking was a breeze around the hotel for less than 4 Euro a whole day, this was unexpected and welcome! Only issue, as with most hotels in Europe is that the AC doesn't work so we had some very hot and uncomfortable nights due to this.

“Our San Sebastian Adventure”

I stayed in room 437 and my sister and brother-in-law stayed in room 440, for three nights. I stayed in room 437 and my sister and brother-in-law stayed in room 440, for three nights. We were very happy with out rooms, the services offered and the location of the hotel, since it was a nice walk along the "malecon" to the "Casco Viejo" towards the older part of the city. We visited the San Telmo Museum, an excellent introduction of the Basque population and its origins and struggles to survive. Also, the "Peine del Viento", three iron sculptures of Eduardo Chillida, are close by. The food was delicious and the service at the hotel's restaurant was very efficient and friendly. “Good and Bad”

On the positive a great location for driving to as you avoid the centre of San Sebastián. Good underground parking but 25 euros per 24 hours is very expensive. On the positive a great location for driving to as you avoid the centre of San Sebastián. Good underground parking but 25 euros per 24 hours is very expensive. Whilst it is a nice 20 minute walk to the old town there is an excellent bus service outside the hotel. There are plenty of nice bars and shops nearby. The room was excellent with very comfy bed. We didn’t have breakfast at the hotel as we had been recommended a delightful organic cafe nearby (called BB Kafé). Whilst we mainly ate in the old town we saved our final night’s meal for the hotel restaurant - big disappointment! Definitely the worst meal of our trip around Northern Spain. I would definitely avoid as we noticed other customers were also not happy with their meals.

I can start by reassuring you: If your cruise or insurance conference has booked you into this hotel, you will be OK. The beds are fine, the rooms are huge (like, North American standard), the location is good, the front desk staff are appropriately helpful and it is not a horror show. Don’t be frightened by our three-start rating. But it is also not a 4-star hotel. The room had a “disused Intercontinental” feel, like it got all its boxy furniture at a time when it was an intercontinental but it was dropped from the chain for not maintaining its standards. There was some water damage to the wall in our room (see picture), mould in the shower, the world’s loudest in-room fridge, a light fixture dangling at a funny angle, and the low volume flush on the toilet didn’t work. It’s also possible that there was some sort of laundry room over or near our room (we couldn’t figure out where) because all night we heard dumping water and what sounded like spin cycles and tumble dryers. We were on the fourth (top) floor so we couldn’t really figure that one out. Housekeeping cleaned our room, but left dirty glasses dirty, without removing them, cleaning them, or replacing them. We had a great time in San Sebastián, but our room here was fine, and only fine.
