Wonderful stay here during my camino. Really appreciated the hotel staff, one of them helped me print my tag for the Correos and even offered a plastic cover and safety pin to allow me to secure it on my back. Over and beyond what is required. Also liked the fact that it was tucked away from the crowds and that my room had a small terrace with a view of the nice roofs of the adjoining structures and the clock tower, and a short walk away from the major sights. Take note though that the clock tower bells could get a bit loud, but it only rang once when I was there, and closing the terrace doors dulled the sound. Room itself was good size for me (although might not be okay for bigger or more people), bed was very comfortable, and bathroom was nice and clean. I like the fact that the hotel is saving on electricity and that you only turn on the light light at the stairwell when needed. The hotel restaurant was closed when I stayed there.

“Nice stay”
Had a lovely one night stay in this hotel which is located close to square with bars and cafes. The room was clean, tidy and comfortable suiting the purpose of my stay. Helpful reception staff both at check in and check out. Would stay again.

Los Templarios is just off the Camino down a side street in the old city of Ponferrada and would be easy to miss. On arrival the receptionist spoke good English and was very helpful. The hotel has a lift which is a welcome amenity after dragging a bag up stairs in many hotels along the Camino. Everything seemed very clean. It was pretty cool outside but the room heating was excellent - in fact almost too good in that it heated the room so quickly that I needed to open the window. The only window looked out on an air shaft and was frosted so that it let in very little light. I guess the frosting is because the windows opposite are fairly close but one could always shut the curtain when necessary and let in a bit more light when privacy is not needed. The room was very small with a big twin bed. It was so small that when I opened my suitcase on the floor the door could not be fully opened. The bathroom had a hand held shower over a half size bath with no shower curtain. A sure recipe for disaster and I had managed to soak most of the room by the time I finished showering. My other grumble concerns the keys and key card. There were 2 keys that were almost identical, one for the room and the other for the front door. There was also a sort of key card used to turn on the power that is attached on the same ring. The power turned off immediately that the key card was removed from the slot plunging the room into darkness and presenting a major challenge to get a key (the right key!) into the key hole to unlock the door. There must be a better option - perhaps separate key rings. There isn't much choice of accommodation in the Ponferrada old city so Los Templarios maybe as good as it gets and in the end it is clean with helpful staff so good enough for a night's stay.

The location is very good, and the room was clean and comfortable, despite the size. I woudn't stay again, due some behavior of reception staff. When we get there, we had push the button at the front door, waited for more than 10 minutes without answer. When we decided to ask in the next door (a restaurant entrance), we've found that the front desk clerk was there, all the time!, but didn't get up to get us in. He only said 'the device doesn't work', but... he has a monitor, displaying our images all the time! Why don't get up from the seat and receive us??? To make the things worst, he told us we can add a breakfast to the amount of our stay, but... next day we found he actually didn't this, and we needed to pay a different price to have a breakfast. So, the staff needs more training!

“Camino stop over ”
Stop over on the Camino. You get what you pay for! Room fine for 32 euros. Restaurant fixed menu very basic and unimaginative but hey, what do you expect for 12 euros on a Sunday . Well located in old quarter.
