What a great place to stay while visiting Merida. Located in centre or town - in walking distance of all places to visit (although longer walk than the 10 minutes as mentioned by reception staff :) ) Parking space is 10 minutes walk but they also offer valet parking. Check in was very efficient and fast. Check in staff is very friendly and helpful. Rooms offers a lot of space, are nicely decorated, quiet, clean and with super bed. This offers an excellent sleep quality. Breakfast was better than average with wide choice and excellent food. Not very large breakfast room - so in summer may be crowdy- but early morning very quiet. Check out was very efficient Overall GREAT place to stay while visiting Merida

I really wanted to rate this place higher but trip adviser doesn't allow half stars and I just can't say this place was up to a 4. Positives: - fantastic location which is an easy walking distance to the fort, temple, amphitheatre and theatre complex, and the casa del mitreo. Located on a lovely square - bed was comfy and big, linen was clean - hotel has lovely rustic charm with a gorgeous patio area for the lobby Cons - rooftop pool and bar were closed when we were there, we were not told this on check in - no kitchen open for evening snacks to accompany drinks - the floor of our room was dirty. I don't know what it was but when ever we would walk from the shower to the room barefoot, our feet would get a film of dirt on them. This was really unpleasant. - they did not refresh our toilet paper during our stay which was bizarre, because we had less than half a roll left at one point. - they provided bath robes on the first night but then didn't replace them when we left them for cleaning - they gave only one small bar of hand soap which was not replaced with housekeeping the following morning (by which time it was no more than a sliver) - the breakfast was pretty poor. The pastries were stale and the pancakes were so hard they made a sound when you knocked them together. Just not the quality we've had in other lower star hotels in Spain. - no minibar or room service offerings that we could see. Suggestions for improvements: - let guests know where the pool is and if it is closed on check in - provide snacks for when the bar is open but the kitchen isn't. - ensure toiletries and toilet supplies are replaced each morning if things are looking a little low - even better, provide liquid hand soap. - clean the tile floors a bit more regularly and thoroughly. Merida has a lot of gravel and dirt at the sites tourists come to visit, which then gets tracked in. - have a better variety for breakfast foods and make sure the pastries and baked goods are fresh. No one wants to be able to make a percussion instrument out of their pancakes. Overall it was fine. Just not fantastic. The staff were really lovely and friendly, and if these improvements were made it would be a fantastic place to stay. We really loved Merida itself and absolutely recommend people take a stop here if they have an interest in Roman expansion during the late republic/early imperial era.
