The Catalonia Hotel in Malaga is a fabulous hotel, staffed by people who genuinely care about what they do, I unfortunately became ill whilst on holiday, the staff could not have been more helpful, they were wonderful. The hotel is in a great position, directly across the road from sea, the road is easily crossed as there are traffic light controlled crossings 50 metres in either direction. Plenty of bars & restaurants within 5/10 mins walk, the beach has beach bars/restaurants every 100metres where you can hire shaded sun beds etc. a 10/15 min taxi ride gets you into Malaga old town and port area which is full of bars/restaurants night life etc. taxi around 10/12€. The Catalonia is an ideal base to explore from or if you just want to chill by the ocean.

“Great hotel by the beach”

Very well located hotel - right opposite the beach. Rooms are upscale with spacious bathrooms. They give out towels to take to the beach. I guess the only downside was the ocean itself was rather cold. Overall excellent place to stay at in Malaga.

This is a perfectly serviceable hotel near a pretty, not too crowded beach. The hotel was clean. The service at the little cafe was good in the afternoon, but weird at night. This is a perfectly serviceable hotel near a pretty, not too crowded beach. The hotel was clean. The service at the little cafe was good in the afternoon, but weird at night. The breakfast is worth it to have included with a lot of selections, fresh squeezed orange juice and one-touch coffee machine. There are free towels available to take to the beach (do not lose them, that would be expensive). The one thing I would want anyone to take away from this review is, if you are looking at a satellite map view and think this hotel has a pool, it does NOT have a pool. Its apartment building neighbors have a lovely pool, which you cannot use. This is not really the hotel's fault and indeed there are signs up in the elevator area that the beautiful pool you are looking at is unavailable to use. because I had really wanted a place with a pool, this fact was sad. But the beach is very lovely!
