“Good hotel”

We had a nice time at the hotel during the week-end of the Classico. The ratio quality/price is ok. 2 points to mention. Once, we cale back to the hotel door was opened with a opening card inside. Secondly, the breakfast on Monday was really poor, half of the normal product were missing. When we as… more

“Basic well located hotel”

Basic, no frills, affordable hotel in Madrid that is near many attractions. We arrived early and the staff was able to give us our room right away. There were many outdoor concerts in the area when we visited but the hotel was pretty quiet. There are many restaurants in the area so no need to get b… more

“Good choice.”

This is a nice hotel in a great location. My husband is a huge fan of Rick Steves and he took the recommendation from Rick’s book. We were pleased. The breakfast was fine, but nothing special and the breakfast room was crowded. But the room was clean and the staff pleasant and helpful.

  • Guests at Hotel Opera say: We recently stayed at Hotel Opera during our trip to Madrid, and overall, it was a pleasant and well-located option for exploring the city. The hotel's location is its strongest selling point—it’s situated just off Gran Via, Madrid's bustling main street, and right opposite the Opera House. For those who love sightseeing, this hotel puts you in the heart of the city with easy access to key attractions. Booking & Check-In: We booked through an EasyJet holiday package, and the booking process was smooth and hassle-free. Upon arrival, the check-in was incredibly quick, and the staff spoke English fluently, which was a huge help. The team at the reception was very friendly and offered helpful information about the city, making us feel welcomed from the start. Room Quality: We stayed in a single room that wasn’t the most spacious, but it was comfortable enough for what we needed since we spent most of our time out exploring. The beds were comfortable, and it was nice to have multiple pillows provided for extra comfort. While the room wasn’t lavish, it did the job and suited our needs for the duration of our stay. Amenities: One of the perks of the hotel was the free Wi-Fi, which worked well throughout our stay. The room also had a minibar, stocked with a variety of items from water and alcohol to snacks. However, it would have been helpful to have a price list for the minibar to avoid any surprises at the end of the stay. The minibar was well-stocked, but the lack of clarity on pricing is something to consider if you plan on using it. Bathroom Quality: The bathroom was actually quite spacious, which was a pleasant surprise. It featured a large, rainfall-style shower that made for a luxurious experience. The hotel provided shampoo, soap, and conditioner, which is a nice touch if you’re not picky about toiletries. We also appreciated the abundance of towels, which were replaced daily. Facilities: We weren’t informed of any additional facilities like a gym or spa, and if they exist, they weren’t prominently advertised. This might be something worth asking about if you’re interested in those amenities. Dining Options: Breakfast was included with our stay, and we found it to be a great way to start the day. There was a solid selection of pastries, fruits, breads, and even a cooked breakfast option. It was definitely worth including in our package, though paying £15 per person per day if not included might feel a bit steep. The hotel also has a restaurant that offers lunch and dinner, but we didn’t have a chance to try it during our stay. Service and Staff: The staff throughout the hotel were consistently friendly and helpful, making us feel comfortable and attending to any requests we had. From the front desk to the housekeeping team, the service was excellent. Housekeeping: The housekeeping was top-notch, with new towels and fresh bedding provided daily. They were also very considerate, ensuring that our room was always clean and refreshed without being intrusive. Location: The hotel’s location is ideal for tourists. It’s only a 2-minute walk from the Opera metro station, and attractions like the Royal Palace are just a 10-minute walk away. In the evenings, there are plenty of bars and restaurants in the vicinity, giving you no shortage of dining and entertainment options. Even though we often returned to the hotel around midnight, the area felt safe throughout our stay. Value for Money: Given the central location, friendly service, and comfortable accommodations, we felt that Hotel Opera offered good value for money. If you have the option, I’d recommend including breakfast in your package as paying for it separately can get a bit pricey. Any Issues: The one minor downside was that the rooms didn’t offer great soundproofing, so noise from other guests in the hallways could be heard quite clearly, especially in the late hours. This is something to keep in mind if you’re a light sleeper. Additionally, it looked like the hotel was undergoing some renovations during our stay, so certain areas appeared a bit untidy with unfinished paintwork. It wasn’t a major issue for us, but it might be worth noting for future guests who expect a fully polished environment. Overall: We had a great stay at Hotel Opera and would definitely consider staying here again on our next trip to Madrid. The location, service, and comfort made it a solid choice for exploring the city.
