“Good location, clean and friendly staff”
I stayed at the Hostal Castilla I Atocha for a couple of nights. It was travelling solo so the cosy room was good enough for me (basic but clean and decent) It had private bathroom and the staff at the reception was there 24h. They were friendly and helpful. I stayed at the Hostal Castilla I Atocha for a couple of nights. It was travelling solo so the cosy room was good enough for me (basic but clean and decent) It had private bathroom and the staff at the reception was there 24h. They were friendly and helpful. Wifi was free and I had good signal. I also liked the location as it was very close to Atocha Station and it was easy for me to walk there the day I decided to catch the train to Toledo. Important museums like Reina Sofia are close and there are shops and supermarkets all within easy reach. Price wise I though it was a bit expensive but perhaps it was because it was in January during a trade show taking place in the city (Fitur) which tends to be a busy period for Madrid. I was fairly happy with my choice and stay at this hotel and I think it is a good choice for solo travelers.

“Clean, Tidy, furbished hostel”
Good size of room, clean and tidy. Staying with a friend and we both got some space to put our luggage. Build in wardrobe with hangers which I could hand wash my clothes and dry them on the balcony. Good size of room, clean and tidy. Staying with a friend and we both got some space to put our luggage. Build in wardrobe with hangers which I could hand wash my clothes and dry them on the balcony. Comfortable bed and beddings. Bathroom is clean. Water pressure is good. Bath towel is a bit rough. Stable Wifi, TV in room, kettle and refreshment, dryer, safe lock. I have my room facing the garden so it's quiet. Supermarket and restaurants close-by, about 3minutes walk. More crowded area is about 6minutes walk round the corner. Close to Sol plaza which can catch an early bus tour. About 15-18mins walk to Atocha station. 20minutes to the Royal Palace.

Firstly the present Trip Adviser map provides completely the wrong location for this Hostal which you will find on calle de Atocha No43 which is on the Plaza Mayor side of Anton Martin metro with a distinctive red sign to clearly find it. Firstly the present Trip Adviser map provides completely the wrong location for this Hostal which you will find on calle de Atocha No43 which is on the Plaza Mayor side of Anton Martin metro with a distinctive red sign to clearly find it. There is left access and the lobby is modern and fresh. The rooms are also clean and well facilitated. We found it a handy stop over to reach Atocha station for an early morning train after arriving at Barajas. 16 easy minutes to get to the station

“Nice and Clean”
Nice room with a new bathroom .The staff has a problem with English but is helpful. Great location at the center and very close to metro station. The only negative is the soundproofing because the building is old.
