“Nice hotel, good service, great location ”

Really nice and comfortable hotel. Each room is decorated and furnished in a unique thematic manner. The hotel is conveniently located immediately close to the Gran Via and public transport. Walking distance from Casa Royal, big park etc. The staff is nice and friendly, ready to help if needed.

We arrived late afternoon for a few days in Madrid. This was our first time visiting the city. After reading mixed reviews about this hotel I wasn’t sure what to expect however a lot of reviews were correct (unfortunately). No smile from reception staff, a form was put in front of me to sign and hand over my card along with a room number. Basic manners were missing such as how was your flight, is this your first time here, they weren’t interested at all. I think reception staff need to look at the bar and waiter staff as they were lovely, wouldn’t pass us without saying hello when we went for a coffee or cup of tea. Irene was lovely. Reception staff are the first people we meet on arrival so this was disappointing. The room had a mini fridge to store some water we bought, bed was giving me a sore back after a few nights however I looked at this as somewhere to sleep while exploring the city. Woke up by beds/furniture moving next door. Two single beds pushed together, no kettle which is a basic thing to ask, I basically got ready in the dark as when I opened the curtains my neighbours across the landing could see in to my room when I was at my mirror getting ready. No long mirror to see your outfit. Good points - Location was key with the hotel it is at the centre is of the city with restaurants all around, places for coffee , shops etc. Clean and spacious. Bar staff.

Initial reviews after checking in a few hours ago. I will update my review after checking out. 1. The hotel is nicely decorated with clean rooms. Has bunk beds for those traveling with kids. 2. Has an onsite restaurant and even a roof deck. 2. Centrally located to many restaurants, grocery stores and shopping. Few cons: 1. No irons in the room and had we known this, would definitely have booked elsewhere. I'm surprised this is rated a 4-star hotel yet does not lend irons but instead, charges its guests a few to iron. This can add up especially if traveling as a couple or a family. I've been to 2-star facilities that at least provided an iron. 2. The bathrooms do not have facecloths which is strange to me because how are you supposed to wash your body? With just a soap bar? Luckily we asked and they were able to provide it however this should be standard. Lastly, there are no complimentary toiletries in the washroom such as body wash, body lotion, etc. There are only mini soap bars that one should only use for their hands ,and one container for shampoo (no conditioner.) To summarize, this is a good hotel if you only care about location. However, for those with higher standards, you may want to book elsewhere.
