Very clean, but absolutely spartan, like a private room with a private bathroom in a college dormitory. The balcony overlooks Puerta del Sol. Just step out of the doors, and you are in the thick of things: plenty of amazing restaurants, nightlife, walking distance to the Royal Palace and Prado Museum, pedestrian zones are all around the place. The breakfast is very simple. A lot of noise from Puerta del Sol till at least 1 am. I would definitely stay there again, but hey, if you prefer a quiet place, or a light sleeper, or must have a level of comfort beyond Spartan, you may want to choose a different place for your stay. If you don’t care much about those things and mostly want to have fun in Madrid, this is the place to get a few hours of rest between your Madrid adventures:)))

Excellent for a budget weekend away. Location cannot be beaten. Rooms were clean and comfortable and all staff were friendly and helpful. The hostal is very cheap and located smack in the middle of Madrid, twenty metres from the Sol Metro station and nine minutes walk from the Prado and other Madrid galleries. Incredibly, too, bearing in mind the thousands of people, the noise and activity taking place in Sol Square, it is generally very quiet. But the quality of the facilities is inevitably limited with very small rooms, a general sense of 'tiredness' and a cramped breakfast room. BUT if you are on a short break, don't plan to spend much time in the hostal and would rather spend your money on food, drink and sightseeing, then this might be the place for you!
