I am really surprised by the negative review. I can understand it a bit as the hotel is not in the centre of town, so you need public transport or an Uber, which are not expensive. On the other hand, is is a magnificent building, efficient check in, check out was a bit rush hour, very nice rooms, but airco cannot be set really low, so it was a bit warm. Extensive breakfast, separate bath and shower in my room. recently some bars, shops and restaurants opened around the corner, also due to the new university next door. Maybe I should give it 4 stars, but this time, benefit of the (aironditioning) doubt.

“Luxury hotel 😍”

We stayed at this beautiful hotel, top level service. A bit on the pricey side but you probably will bump into footballers 😍 Location is amazing in the middle of the busy streets of Madrid. If you love views, big buildings & take amazing pictures, this one is for you. 👍

“Mediocre 3 star masquerading as a 5 star!…. One to avoid if you like 5 star cleanliness, service and luxury!”

Not a great hotel and certainly not up to the standard of a 5 star! This hotel would hot have been my hotel of choice, we made the decision to stay here, on our recent 5 day break to Madrid, as we needed to stay close to where our friends from Madrid live. The reason being that it made it easier for them to pick us up, to show us the fabulous city that Madrid is. When writing these reviews I try to find positives, but unfortunately I genuinely don’t have anything positive to say….. oh except for, the staff on the front desk are pleasant enough. Ok!… what’s wrong with the hotel?…. You are probably thinking! If I were to summarise it, this hotel is simply a 3 star business hotel, masquerading as a 5 star! It just simply does don’t offer 5 star quality or experience! The hotel is tired!…. The rooms are awful! They are worn, dirty and have far too much dark decor! We paid for two junior suites…. They were big enough….. but in poor condition! The awful dark wood walls, which were gloss in appearance had filthy marks on them!…. hand prints could be seen over them from previous guests! The furniture was chipped and worn, the floors scuffed, desk tops worn and chipped, stains on the sofa and chairs, worn fittings in the wardrobes, broken jets in the bathtub, difficult to operate shower fittings, sinks that don’t drain away…., the list is extensive! Let’s not mention the awful breakfast room! Ok… let’s! There is a dirty uncared for theme about this hotel! Starting with the breakfast room! It’s just plain grubby! Broken handles on the stainless food warmers, grease coating them as if they’ve never been cleaned before! Staff expecting you to sit at dirty tables without even changing the rubbish paper table Matt from the previous breakfast diner! Cold coffee, lack of options for traditional breakfast tea!…. Poor quality food offerings …. Good choice on pastries but just not quality! It appears to me that this hotel is operated on a shoestring budget…. There just isn’t anything 5 star luxury about this hotel… don’t come here expecting there to be! The location of the hotel isn’t central so as a leisure traveller it’s probably not the best choice…. There are far more central luxury 5 star hotels to choose from. This hotel would suit a non fussy business traveller looking for a one night stay …. It’s certainly one we would avoid coming back to on our next visit to Madrid!

The hotel itself outside has amazing architecture. Inside you’re greeted by a lovely reception area and general hallways are lovely and welcoming. On entering the room at first glance is elegant however the room we had was really in need of a lot of repairs. The sink tap kept falling off, bath wouldn’t run away as the thing you turn to pop the plug up was broken. Also in the shower the complimentary shampoo etc fell off the wall. It was visible this had happened before. Beds are comfortable and a good size. The downside to this hotel travelling with kids there are no swimming pools for anyone under the age of 16 and also you need to pay €35 euros to use the jacuzzi for 45 mins and have to book in advance! Breakfast was repetitive each day and the scrambled eggs are half cooked (runny). I do not believe this hotel is a 5* hotel and at most 4*. If you visit and looking for places to eat I’d recommend Gino’s a short walk across the road and there’s also a few places at the back of the hotel which include five guys and Starbucks.
