This is a truly beautiful historic hotel that was remodeled in the early 2000s to add all of the modern touches you see today. The rooms and bathrooms are large. Ours had large windows that opened up to the incredible view of the gorge outside. Only suggestion for the rooms is that they upgrade the mattresses. Ours was super firm with squeaky springs. The restaurant is decent, and there are also a number of incredible restaurants just 15 minutes up the road in Potes. The spa was the best part. Being able to come back from hiking every day and spend an hour soaking in the huge spa pool, with strong jets to massage our aching muscles was sublime. One note of caution though...they allow children in the spa and we were unlucky to be stuck with a shrieking 3yo for three of the days we were there and parents that didn’t seem to understand that the spa is supposed to be a place for relaxation. I certainly understand why they allow children, but there should be some cutoff for age. Perhaps If they are not old enough to know how to swim, they should not be allowed in the spa. There is nothing less relaxing than a shrieking child. Luckily the spa is big enough with a number of different spaces that we were able to move around to avoid the loud child.

As two couples staying for just a night, we enjoyed Balneario Hermida for an excellent spa afternoon and for the incredible setting deep in a gorge. Lying in a spa looking up through the glass roof at ten eagles soaring right overhead was an amazing experience never to be forgotten. The rooms are spacious although don't expect luxury but the price point makes that fine. The restaurant wasn't the best point of the hotel (for meal or breakfast) although it really did represent great value for money. We'd have rather had some more expensive options for a higher standard on offer. Would recommend overall and the area is superb for visiting.

I stayed in this hotel one night ago with the expectation of staying in a four star hotel as rated in your booking.com listing. The location of the hotel is spectacular with scenic views of the mountains. The building itself is lovely and spending time in the spa area was also very relaxing. The hotel is rated as a four star and their prices are a reflection of that rating. However, this hotel is hardly a three star mainly because of the rundown state of the furnishings and lack of cleanliness in the room and spa area. In the room there was a broken frame and visibly damaged table. In the bathroom there was a broken glass shelf and there was grime in every bottom corner of the bath and shower. Some of the large glass panes in the spa were clean while others were encrusted with deposits to the point that you could not see through them and made them look grimy and dirty. I don't believe that this hotel in its current state should be rated any higher than 2.5 or 3 stars and the hotel prices should also be adjusted to such reality. Not doing so would be a misrepresentation of this hotel to patrons that make a booking at this hotel. I informed the receptionist about all of this and even left my email hoping that the manager would contact me immediately. I was disappointed that they didn't.

Beautiful location, spacious rooms, great breakfirst, wonderfull spa, charming in an old-fashioned way, but… - The hotel feels outdated and “tired” in terms of maintenance and employees - The restaurant had good moments, but was below average compared to the many great restaurants in Spain - The outside pool was closed, which was a big disapointment travelling with kids (children are welcome in the spa, but they of course cannot play arround as kids do) - We received very little help to arrange tours, finding another pool etc. In general the most commen answer to requests in the reception was “no” and the service and kindness was not as we have experienced in the rest of Northen Spain - Location is gorgeous with mountain views but not practical, since it is in the boundary to Picos de Europa, so expect 30-45 minutes driving to reach the cable car and best trails Book it, if you appreciate a historic feeling in a hotel. Picos de Europa is by the way amazing and we had some wonderfull days with hiking, canyoning and food.
