Stayed here 1 night while waiting for friends to arrive the following day Simple yet clean and very warm apt Had 2 x single beds and bunk beds with very warm covers Bathroom was simple but clean, shower was great Breakfast was included. Cereals, fruits, breads, and a small selection of warm food available was enough to stock me up for the days skiing Only down side was location. Its set back a few rows up the hill, behind the main square. Access from town is up several flights of steps (or following the winding road) Not too bad if you are reasonable fit All in all would stay here again no problem

Very small beds. Very odd smell in the room coming from behind a padlocked door. Only one key for the room available. Buffet food which gives plenty of choice. Relatively cheap. Shower a bit dirty but warm and powerful. Nowhere to really sit as a lounge area. Some staff very friendly, others slightly confrontational. For a cheap week of skiing - fine!

Where do I start with El Ciervo? First of all it is a hostal and not a hotel. People considering this place need to be aware of this. It is popular with school groups and groups of twenty-something snowboarders. All of these groups make plenty of noise in the mornings and the evenings. The good points are that the staff were all very friendly and helpful. The room I had was warm and clean and the bathroom had plenty of hot water which was welcome after a long day of skiing. The breakfast selection was varied and plentiful without being particularly special. I only took the dinner buffet once and it was satisfactory with choices of meat, fish, pasta, salads and desserts. The bad points were that the hostal is in bad need of updating and a good coat of paint. Our room had very bad mould on the walls and ceiling. Location wise there are a lot of steps to manage to get down to the cable car stations and the town. Coming back up this was exhausting after a day on the slopes. There is never any parking in front of the hostal so be prepared to pay for parking in the central carpark. Overall I thought El Ciervo was OK but I would only recommend it to school groups and younger visitors who want a cheaper place to stay. It is not really suitable for couples or young families.
