“Good hotel in the center of Bilbao”

The hotel is across the Nervión river and in the center. The room (deluxe) was quiet and spacious. Breakfast is very good, with lot of options you don't usually see in similar hotels. The food in the hotel restaurant was good. We had a good stay there.

This was our 6th or 7th stay at this hotel. We have been coming here for 10 years now, it is perfectly located by the river and is midway between the Old Town and the centre. Across the river you have access to the tram network . The funicular is less The funicular is a 5 minute walk , there are plenty of bars and restaurants nearby , especially around the old town , which also has a variety of shops . The Guggenheim is less than 10 minutes. There is an underground car park, a large lobby , a gym and a great bar with great staff that opens till late. We were warmly welcomed and offered the opportunity of breakfast at a reduced rate. The breakfast was simply amazing with fabulous choices , plenty of tables and was restocked throughout the opening times which is great it meant everyone benefited from the choice. My personal favourites were the tasty meat and cheeses and the delicious pastries. Well worth paying for. We had upgraded to a suite with a river view on the 5th floor. It was great wit( a sofa bed/ lounge area, a mini bar (not stocked but you could purchase items either from the lobby or the outside. Great lighting throughout, and very effective air conditioning very welcome as it was rather warm during our trip. The bed was amazing, king size,and so comfy , with lovely soft pillows. The best two nights sleep I have had in a long time. The bathroom area was between the bedroom area and lounge area, it was well equipped with separate toilet and wet room/ bath area. The shower had two options and overhead rain shower and a standard option which we used, it was very powerful and hot. Towels were plentiful. We had a great view of the river , although it looked like there should have been some seats and a table available to enjoy the view ,but this was not the case , just a big round rug. We used the bar quite a lot as it’s a great way to interact with other guests, prices are good not over inflated and not much difference to bars in the local area. We will definately stay here again, very comfortable, good value and great location.

On arrival we were "upgraded" to a "suite". This consisted of a long but relatively narrow room with a sitting area nearest the door and furthest from the window and consisting of a tatty faux leather settee and tv. The bedroom was at the window end of the room and a good size but had only one, uncomfortable, easy chair. Our overall impression of the suite and the hotel generally was of cheap modernity at the expense of comfort. Breakfast offered a reasonable range of choices but the quality was only average. On the plus side, the hotel is in a very convenient location for the old town and the Guggenheim museum and has an excellent on-site underground car park.
