Really well located good quality hotel with an incredibly friendly, helpful and smiley male receptionist. I even had a bath. Only very slight issue was there were various fixed prices and times for breakfast so we didn’t bother. Our room was down the side on 4th floor spacious, well maintained and pretty quiet. However I can imagine 1st or 2nd floor at the front could be a bit noisy particularly at the weekend as it is just off La Ramblas and the Spanish are pretty nocturnal - I have had past experience in Madrid. Location is fifteen minutes down Las Ramblas to the front and ten minutes from Cathedral on the edge of the old town.

You could spend quite a bit of time just admiring the architectural details in this lovely old hotel - original light fixtures, molded ceilings, curved glass and curved pocket doors, interesting room shapes. We had 241, which is a "junior suite". The price was reasonable in November - the room was very spacious and had two separate accesses onto a balcony over looking the street. Very good soundproofing from the street, which does have its noise challenges. Most of the front desk people were both pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was extra, and had to be arranged by filling out a form the night before. The hotel's location is very convenient - easy access to the metro at Plaza Catalunya, and easy walking distance to numerous sights.

I booked this hotel after researching many others Many others had bad reviews about security and noise I chose this one as security did not appear to be a problem and the location appeared to be quiet Both those things were true The room was a good size, the single beds are not narrow ones like the uk They are a good size and comfortable Air con was good Had a balcony And the traditional decor was nice although at first I was not keen The location was great My only negative is there was no fridge ( which I did know about) and the shower was not great
