“Great location, comfortable beds, big hotel but felt small as in comfortable.”

Lovely friendly staff, comfy beds, we had small balcony, air conditioning was quiet, breakfast was fantastic, plenty choice, even cava! super location for tourists. Fridge in room. Only small point, there was no tea/coffee/kettle/ cups/glasses in rooms. Only paper cups.

Lovely hotel. Very clean. Rooms spacious. Breakfast was a very pleasant surprise . Lots to choose from, tasty and the staff were very helpful and Excuse welcoming. Ideal location. The Gothic quarter really is beautiful. Not far from the marina or the beach. Bars and restaurants and bars close by.... more

Would definitely recommend.

“Well worth a visit”

Just returned from a very good stay at this hotel... Nothing to dislike.... . Staff are very polite and helpful... Great Mexican and other good restaurants close bye... Breakfast had very good choices, and scrambled egg to die for.... Close to everything

“Slightly disappointed”

I stayed at the Hotel Del Mar with a male friend. We booked this 5 months ago, and I requested a twin room then as we are not a couple. We arrived about midday, so before the check in time. I stayed at the Hotel Del Mar with a male friend. We booked this 5 months ago, and I requested a twin room then as we are not a couple. We arrived about midday, so before the check in time. I again said I requested a twin room and was told it was not a problem. We left our bags and went out to explore. We returned at about 5pm to check in. We went to our first room and found it was a double. My friend went downstairs to explain we requested a twin and he got told we could move to one tomorrow. I then went into the bathroom and it was disgusting. There was something like black soot all over the floor, toilet, shower tray and bits of silver foil. So I went downstairs and showed them the photos and videos I took and they moved us, into another double, but it was clean. I contacted EasyJet, who I booked through and they contacted the hotel. She came back to me very quickly and said we would be moved the following day, to a port view room and that we would have chocolates or wine in our room as an apology. The following day we did move into a port view room with a little balcony. The chocolates/wine never materialised even though I asked where it was on Monday, the receptionist knew nothing about it but said he’d look into it. The good points of the hotel is the location. Close to the Gothic Quarter, Barcelona beach and El Born. Plenty of restaurants and bars close to the hotel. There are bus stops right outside and a Metro stop about 2 mins walk (Barceloneta stop). The rooms are a decent size and there is a good shower. As a woman, I take my own toiletries, but there was an all in one gel/shampoo in the bathroom. The twin room was kept very clean and towels were changed daily (although not requested). It was a little worrying seeing homeless people sleeping/living right next to the hotel. I understand this is a problem across the world, but if you’re a solo female traveller, this might have caused you concerns and f returning later at night. Although by our last day, it looked as though the cardboard areas has been removed.
