me and friend when to asturias during the summer and decided to check into el-bricial in cangas de onis where its the gate way to the picos del europa. the hotel has a very spanish feel and except the fact most cant speak english(we are asians), it was a very pleasant stay. the receptionist and cleaners are really friendly, like how all spaniards are. the hotel rooms are pretty clean, and toilets were big as well. got a television and i must say well decorated. breakfast selection was so-so, it was not bad but not great either. i would suggest going to the cangas de onis town to dine as asturias itself is famed for its food. location wise is very good. the bus station is 5 mins taxi ride away where buses go to the picos park. while coming back from the park you can also ask the bus driver to drop you at el-bricial as its nearer to the bus station. this town is very small and from what i can see everyone seems to know each other. its funny we bumped into the same cabbie and people while just walking around. overall its a very pleasant stay and its such a beautiful place to be. be sure to check the romanesque bridge next to the tourism office and definately the picos del europa.

Very traditional looking hotel from the outside, but it is in fact a recently built hotel. Comfortable and nice looking rooms with a slopping roof (some small, some larger). All the bedrooms are on 1st floor with a long corridor leading to them. There is no lift and only one staircase leading up to the bedrooms. We asked to change rooms after one night as our room was opposite the stairs, which was very noisy with everyone making noise going up. However, the second room (looking onto the back of the hotel) was noisy for another reason: the bathroom adjacent to next door's bedrooms had little noise insulation and you could hear everything that happened next door. Spaniards eat late and therefore go to bed late. Thankfully the hotel seemed to attract families who go to bed around midnight. So betwen midnight and seven you can sleep. If 7 hours sleep are not enough for you and you are a light sleeper, don't book into that hotel... The breakfast was very simple. The restaurant in the evening served nice food, but at double the price from other restaurants in Cangas de Onis. The staff were extremely friendly. They didn't speak English, but since we spoke a bit of Spanish there was no problem communicating. And at EUR45 a night this hotel is good value for money.
