Stayed seven nights at this hotel with my wife as part of Travelsphere's Andalucia package (which was excellent). PROS: Hotel is only a 15-20 minute walk away from the town, which is well worth a visit. Great supermarket en route to the town centre. Knocks spots off anything in the UK...and cheaper - especially the wine ! Entrance to the hotel (foyer area) and the ground floor very spacious and tastefully decorated. Beautiful marble staircase. Drinks from bar reasonably priced. Room itself large and in good condition, as was the bathroom. Good shower. Read one or two complaints about breakfast here, but you'd have to be pretty picky not to find something you liked. Plenty of choice, buffet-style. CONS: Noise can be a problem here. The layout of the rooms with the pool in the middle creates a kind of amphitheatre, where noise is amplified. Our room was directly above the outside covered patio area, which has tables and chairs for guests to sit out opposite the pool. Several nights we were kept awake until 2am, with guests (not from UK) singing, laughing and shooting. We also heard about complaints from guests on the other side of the pool, where the rooms are in close proximity to a sports centre. We walked back from the town one night at 11pm and a basket ball game was in full swing ! Miserable pair of individuals behind the reception desk. Management should teach them to smile a bit, especially the charmless woman who was there when we arrived. In general, the staff were not very communicative. Seemed like they were doing too much, rushing here and there, and had no time for common courtesies. At least three tours there during our stay, Travelsphere, Newmarket and Mistral, plus on one day a convention of the Andalucia civil protection authority.. Had the feeling throughout that the hotel Praise to the ladies who did a good job every day making up our room. Dinner: Buffet again and a bit samey and bland every day. Haven't tasted such overcooked veg since school dinners. Nothing wrong with the food as such (it filled a gap) but it felt a bit like a canteen. Tip: at least six in our party (including us) visited a restaurant called Mar de Gloria (Glory ofthe Seas) in the town. Great sea food, all resonably priced. Book by phone or online. We found it odd that there was no folder in the room listing local amenities, attractions etc.

We were booked to stay at this hotel half board for 10 nights at the beginning of September. The hotel itself was lovely but unfortunately the food wasn't. The dining area was more like a school canteen. Dull and uninteresting food that really was done on the cheap. To be fair it did improve after a few days when more people arrived at the hotel. The bar and restaurant staff could do with retraining, they were surly and seemed to be on a mission to dish up short measures of alcoholic drinks. All in all a beautiful hotel let down by the staff.

We stayed at the Hotel Antequera as part of a Rail Discoveries tour . Found it to be spacious and on the whole well looked after with a nice terrace & swimming pool area. It is a 15/20 min walk into town parts of which are uphill. We were on a set evening meal which was a buffet, both the evening meals & breakfast were of a good quality & choice. Our room was comfortable & spacious with a good shower but here comes the downside, outside the bathroom door in the ceiling was a hole obviously caused by a previous water leak which was still damp and had fungal growing from it. This was not new damage as it appeared to have been like it for some time, this was reported to the hotel but was still in the same state when we checked out. The room shouldn't have been allocated with such damage being present. Apart from that we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting this area.
