Good hotel for a cheap weekend mostly spent on the beach. Our room was for 3 people, but very small. The beds were definitely crammed in! But we got a cheap deal, and didn't plan to spend much time in the room so this was fine. We had booked a room rate with breakfast included through a travel website, but on arrival were told that the hostal did not offer any breakfast facilities, which was an unfortunate surprise. There was a coffee vending machine, but the quality was quite poor, so we preferred having breakfast and a coffee in the morning in a small cafe nearby. We walked about 25 minutes to the beach, but it was a pleasant walk down. Within 10 minutes are many bars and restaurants, you won't be short of choice. We arrived at the hostal by taxi from the bus station, it's only a 5 minute journey, but i'd recommend getting a taxi just so you know where you're going! it would also be more like 30 minutes on foot, which isn't ideal with luggage. The hostal staff were very helpful, allowing us to leave our bags with them after checkout. If you want a cheap, no frills base for exploring Almeria then this is the place.

For a cheap weekend away this hostal was an excellent choice. Although our room for three people was small (you could just about walk around!) everything was extremely clean. The bathroom was quite large and had a good shower, towels were provided at no extra cost. There is free wifi throughout the hostal, including in the rooms. On some websites it is advertised that you can have breakfast in this hostal, this is not true, there is only a small coffee vending machine so be prepared, especially on a Sunday morning when most places are closed! Location-wise, the hostal is situated close to the centre with plenty of bars and restaurants to go to and about a 25 minute walk to the beach. The bus and train station are a 5 minute taxi journey away. The reception staff were very helpful and always welcoming, they also allowed us to leave our bags in reception after checkout as our bus was not until 4pm and checkout was 11am. The only downside to this hostal is the exceptionally thin walls, noise travels very easily! However, this did not stop us having a good night's sleep. All in all as a cheap, clean base for a trip to Almeria this hostal is a very good option!

“For 1-2 nights”

We have a clean room, with comfortable beds, and WIFI. In the room there was a bathroom not very big but also clean. Unfortunately our room was close to laundry. it is ok for one, max two nights stay.

Hostal Maribel is not fancy, but if you're after a cheap, clean place to stay then this fits the bill. The hostal is on the main street of Almeria and is about 20 minutes walk from the beachfront and the bus station. Check-in was fairly straightforward, though I wasn't told on arrival that they hasn't automatically debited my card for the booking, so I nearly checked out without paying. I had a room with a double bed, desk, wardrobe, TV and private ensuite bathroom with toilet and half-tub. All the facilities were fairly new, clean and in good repair. The room was on the small side, but that was fine for me travelling alone. There was a mention of breakfast somewhere, but nothing was said on check-in so I provided my own food. I also didn't find any communal areas except a few armchairs on the landing of the stairs, which is a negative for me (however I usually stay in youth hostels, so that's what I'm used to). In short, as other reviewers have said, if you want a clean, basic, cheap hotel, then Hostal Maribel is for you.

Clean rooms and free wifi. The rooms are smallish and you will hear the neighbours if they decide to watch tv. There is a coffee/tea vending machine in the corridor and a few bars just around the corner. 15 minutes walk from there you will find loads of bars and restaurants, which is where I will stay next time I go to Almeria. Not because there was something wrong with the hotel, but just for the convenience.
