“basic city centre hotel”

Had two nights at this hotel and it did all I needed it to do - offer me a clean room to sleep and shower. Its a basic hotel but very clean with a good size bathroom and good shower. Location is excellent, being right in the heart of Alicante and close to all the bars, restaurants and shops.

“Central hotel with friendly reception staff”

Central hotel. It is very clean and I booked a standard room. Shower was great with lovely white fluffy towels. Toiletries good, although hand soap at sink would have been better than body gel to wash hands. Room very clean and tidy with 2 free bottles of water and a mini-bar.

“Location”

A very good no nonsense hotel with an excellent location. The hotel housekeeping was spotless. Our room was on the Rambla de Mendez Nunez which is busy street but the double glazing windows did their job very well.

Initially, we hated the room we were originally given. Despite it being clean and the shower being in good working order, our first day was like staying in a jail cell. Fortunately, on the second day of our stay, I asked the receptionist if it was possible to get a room upgrade and whether a room with a view had become vacant. Luckily, a better room had become available, which had more light, a balcony overlooking the city centre and tea and coffee making facilities had become available, though this only consisted of a kettle and two cups rather than teabags, coffee sachets and biscuits. Though I enjoyed having a bath, the shower in the new room didn't really work very well. Beds were comfortable and the sheets were cooling. TV only has Spanish channels to watch, so we watched box sets on Amazon Prime instead. Again, room was very clean and cleaners did a good job. What people don't know is that there is a secret library where you can read books on the first floor. Something worth checking out. Lift was a bit rickety at times. Though it claimed to take up the weight of six people, in reality, only four people could fit into it. Minibar is filled with various drinks to buy for those who want them. I paid €124 for the room upgrade. My mum was cheesed off about not getting it for free, like we did in a previous hotel we stayed at in Italy. One criticism I have of the hotel is that the reception area is a bit cold; no seats to sit down while you wait for your room to be prepared before check-in with heavy suitcases. We had to wait on benches outside the hotel. It was full of dirty footprints and dead leaves. Just one long corridor. Man at reception, however was very understanding. Best thing about the hotel is that it's close to everything: Alicante city centre, the marina, the seafront, the castle and the beach. Everything is right on your doorstep. I was very disappointed that this hotel didn't offer breakfast in the morning. However, next door, is a lovely pizzeria and gelateria, which I think of as the unofficial hotel restaurants, plus various shops, supermarkets, cafès and seaside restaurants. Remember, if you book this hotel for your holiday, you're guaranteed "room-only".
