This high end resort is classy and luxurious with live music jazz and classical in the lobby. Feels more high end than the Lotte next door. The beds and aircon are good. Rooms are good sized but not huge. Bathrooms are well appointed and spacious. There are no blackout curtains just wooden shutters so the light comes in. They should add blackout curtains. Beware there are some toothbrushes and things on top of the minibar that aren’t free. The stuff in the bathroom is free. There is a 7 Eleven in the garden of the Lotte and a store in the All Suites next door. Check in and checkout are efficient. And bell staff are helpful and friendly. The concierge is helpful in arranging transport for sightseeing. The hotel is set back from the beach. Right now the beach access staircase is under construction. So you have to go to the next door hotel to walk to the beach. They should tell you at check in. The restaurants are pricey so most guests eat out. Seems a shame not to lower prices a bit then the restaurants won’t be almost empty. I needed extra pillows and towels because I was in a triple and they only gave 2 sets one day but Housekeeping / front desk didn’t answer after many rings. Had to tell them at the lobby. Need to have more staff answering the phones. The kids pool is crowded in the evenings but the adult pool is fine.

Stayed at shilla Jeju for 3 nights. The hotel is very extravagant with shops, multiple restaurants, very extensive kids facilities, gym, pool ect. There is plenty of entertainment available, there was a band each night by the family pool which was great as well as a singer/ band at the cafe playing. It is very catered to kids and families, which is not a problem for me, however I felt like the adult activities were a miss (more on this to come). Overall my stay wasn’t bad, but there were some pain points for me. I want to preface this hotel is very domestic (I did not see any other non-Korean customers during my stay here), so it makes sense upon reflection that the language barrier at this hotel is quite high. Staff are all very friendly but it’s clearly not a hotel for international guests. My issues can be summarised as food and additional charges. Although the hotel is pricey it’s not extremely expensive, our room was about $500 AUD per night, so in comparison food here is very very expensive. There are 3 main restaurants and they all offer buffet/ set menus only starting at about $175 AUD per person, which is a lot. Yes this information is on the website but I naively thought this was just showcasing their best offering and you could get dinner in a non buffet/ set menu style. There is technically alacarte at the Parkview (western) but they don’t want you to order that way, when asked we were told it takes 1.5 hours minimum and they don’t recommend it. We opted for the expensive buffet first night so not to be difficult. It was very good, (so is the breakfast served here, one of the best) but I didn’t want to have to gorge myself at a buffet but there were no other options. I find it unusual that all dining options are a set menu only. Second night determined not to spend a fortune and overeat we ate at the pool bar, food is limited and also very expensive. No one is forcing us to eat here, I understand, but I would like to be able to enjoy the facilities at the hotel. We ordered and sat for over an hour, even the drink hadn’t arrived, when I started to see other guests receive drinks who arrived only 5 minutes prior I followed up only to find the order wasn’t placed, sadly a language barrier issue. My shrimp burger was not good, instead of it being big shrimp as I imagined it was a patty of minced shrimp. I did ask the server more details about the burger before ordering but none spoke basic English and could answer. It also was served with a fried egg on top, not listed as an ingredient in the menu, it’s a rather odd accompaniment to shrimp, I left it. Coffee and tea at the lounge bar is $20 AUD for a peppermint tea, or black coffee, quite an extortionate price no matter how rich you are. I would have loved to enjoy a cup of tea and watch the beautiful singer here but couldn’t justify the price. Other issue I have with the hotel is the extra charges. If you want to swim in the adult only pool, you must pay for a sun bed. I’ve stayed at many 5 star hotels and I’ve never had to pay for a sun bed when I’m already a guest at the hotel. Very strange. There is not an unpaid option for the adult only pool, you must pay to be there, however the family pool has free seating. Yes I could stay at the family pool, but why shouldn’t I be able to enjoy either pool at the resort. We opted to pay for the pool for one day, I was baffled to discover you get 2 hours for about $25 AUD then you pay every hour after you want to stay. Staff were lovely and it’s not their fault, but there is very serious policing of these policies, minutes past our hour we were being told time was up, some points the pool was empty, which is a shame. Same deal with the gym sauna. If you want to access the female/ make sauna it’s an extra charge, seems that there is very little value to customers staying here without an extra charge. Although the hotel is nice, I would not stay again, it is too family orientated for a couple without kids. I also on principle would not stay here due to the pool charge. When I looked at their website during my 1.5 hour wait for my shrimp burger, I see they have this charge for the sun beds listed, but who is checking if their 5 star hotel pool is free to lay down at..
