Before coming here I read some of the other reviews about this hotel on Trip Advisor and that made me very nervous about the standard. When we arrived to the hotel and the rooms I got pleasantly surprised! The staff in the reception were really helpful even though they didn't speak English. We were a gang of 11 exchange student from Europe and this were exactly what we needed, a good cheap place with good location! The rooms were clean and the bathrooms recently renovated, which was really nice. It's also Wifi in the rooms. We stayed at this hotel two nights and the first night we ate at the hotels restaurang, nothing to complain about. This hotel has a really good location, and it takes not even 10 minutes to go down to the harbor and 15 min to go to the waterfall Cheonjiyeon Falls. If you want to go to the beach, the buses are leaving all the time for Jungmun and it only takes about 30 min. Our best experience about this hotel were when we were checking out from the hotel to go hiking at Hallasan Mountain. We asked the man in the reception about the way to the bus station and he explained really good in english that it would take us 15 min. Since we were checking out all of us had our luggage to carry, so the man offered to drive it to the bus station för us. This were in the morning and we where a bit late, you should start hike around 9-10 because of the time limits. The man notices that and then offered to drive us the hole way for not a lot of money, so we even got our privat driver from the hotel! Really good service!

“Some what dated”

Hotel was adequate for the 4 nights we stayed ,did not book in advanced hence quite expensive ,well the rate we were charged out of season 100.000 krw per night hence not good value for money.

First off, we were looking for a cheap and clean hotel to lay our heads at night. We were not looking for pools or cafes built in. The hotel is getting a little old but is clean. The hotel staff was friendly and spoke a little english. They called taxis for us and had plug converters for us to borrow for 5000 won. It is right across the street from the 600 bus stop, which is convenient. There are 24 hour shops and coffee shops very close by. Overall it is a good hotel but nothing overwhelming.

“Good Location”

At Seoul's Sopoong Guesthouse, we were advised to stay in the more picturesque south coast of Jeju Island instead of the north where Jeju airport is. The airport limousine bus took just 1 hour 20 minutes to reach this hotel in the Seogwipo district and the bus stop is right opposite the hotel.. As we stayed 3 nights here, 10th to 12th March, i.e. late winter, we were charged (low season) just 60,000 won a night and offered a room facing the sea. The double-room is spacious, clean linens etc. and with double glass windows thus insulated from the cold and traffic noise. There is free WiFi in the room. However, barely any English is spoken but this was much better than other hotels we tried here where hardly a word of English was understood and virtually impossible to stay. When we asked about local tours, the reception staff guessed what we wanted and pointed to the plentiful tour brochures. We found YEHA BUS tours: Tues, Thurs and Saturdays for the Eastern Part of the island tour and Mon, Wedn and Fridays for the Western part of island tour. Each tour was 79,000 won for adults and includes Korean style lunch. Our opinion is the East tour is better than the west tour. However you can ask the reception staff to ring the tour company to book the trip for you and pay the tour guide. There are two guides on the bus, Mandarin (for tourists predominantly from Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore,Malaysia) and English (predominantly from Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and "Westerners"). The hotels's restaurant was closed as it was the low season. We also found that there were few restaurants open in the vicinity of the hotel, probably due to the low season. As such for the low season, you may consider staying in the large northern city near the airport where you have more hotels, restaurants, banks, etc. This being the case, you may ponder whether it is worth staying in the posh 4 or 5 star hotels which are located in the isolated central part of the island and with no city facilities and you are solely dependent on the hotels restaurants etc. Returning to the airport in the north is simple as there is a bus stand just to the west of the hotel. There are sights near this hotel. However, to book flight to Busan City by Jeju Air for example, you need to do it over the internet (WiFi) yourself as this hotel would not help to book the flight for you which we find most irritating. However we don't know about the attitudes of other hotels.
